Umbilicus
Urza's Saga Rare

"During each player's upkeep, that player pays 2 life or returns a permanent he or she controls to owner's hand."
Umbilicus can be quite an irritant for many opponents. It's not too hard to build a deck prepared for the strange "Boomerang or else" effect in your own deck, while most opponents won't be ready. You can capitalize upon Umbilicus with any of a number of cards. If you're feeling a little brave, Umbilicus is an excellent replacement for such cards as Time Elemental and Boomerang. Umbilicus will free up much mana for you, but you almost must use it each turn. Here are some of my favorites to use with Umbilicus:
- Triskelion/Tetravus
Even though these cards have different effects when they keep coming back into play, they are similar ("They're the same but different"). Every time Triskelion comes into play, you'll have 3 tokens you can remove to deal a damage each to whatever you wish, and Tetravus can net you 3 1/1 flying critters in a similar fashion.
- Nekrataal
Most of us know the advatage of being able to play Nekrataal over and over. It's a reusable Terror!
- Abyssal Horror
Everytime this horror comes into play, target player must choose and discard two cards. It costs 6 mana, but it's worth it sometimes.
- Stasis/Winter Orb...
Pick and choose your method of really honking off your opponent with an easy to use method of sending radical cards back to your hand. Stasis and Winter Orb are just two of the more popular and deadly ones. Ducking under Winter Orb's ability is good enough, while forcing only your opponent to suffer from a Stasis usually wins you the game in a few turns.
