"Icatian Moneychanger deals 3 damage to you when summoned; put three credit counters on Moneychanger at that time. During your upkeep, put one credit counter on Moneychanger.
0: Sacrifice Icatian Moneychanger to gain 1 life for each credit counter on it. Use this ability only during your upkeep."
A brief rundown of the card:
There are several ways of gaining a life every turn--Fountain of Youth, Farmstead, Spiritual Sanctuary..., but have you ever considered trying a creature that'll net you one life for every turn he's around for NO EXTRA MANA? I'd try to only use him against decks without direct damage, but since I don't always have that luxury, here's some ideas on how to keep your Icatian Moneychanger around for a long time:
Even though these cards kinda have slight differences, they will both work very well at protecting an Icatian Moneychanger from most of harm's way.
This is a very popular card used nowadays to help protect your critters. Since you'd be playing with green, how about throwing in Spore Flowers (perfect for Dense Foilage)? Makes it fairly hard to kill someone with a raging Spore Flower and a few Moneychangers laying around with a dozen tokens on them.
With this cheap enchantment on an Icatian Moneychanger, the townsfolk will be 1/7(!) and be able to safely block such foes as Craw Wurm, Juzam Djinn, and an Animated Blistering Barrier WHILE doing your accounting. What a guy.
Worry not about the Moneychanger's damage if you're playing with COP: White. He is white and he is the one dealing damage to you. Don't forget about Fire and Brimstone!
