"As long as enchanted creature is black, it gets +2/+1; otherwise, it gets -1/-2."
A brief rundown of the card:
When veratility is needed in a creature battle, Phyrexian Boon is awesome. Sure, if you use it as an Unholy Strength (+2/+1 on a black creature), it's a waste of mana. It's the fact that you COULD if need be eliminate any creature with a toughness of 2 or less. Alliances was the first set that really got into dual purpose cards. Feast or Famine is another good example. I've used Phyrexian Boon for both offense and defense many a time. Here are a few cards you can try to help get the most out of Phyrexian Boon:
If you use Crown of the Ages and Phyrexian Boon correctly, you could keep switching the enchantment from your creatures (assumably black) to your opponent's creatures to possibly force your opponent to reconsider attacking. This way you could deal 2 more damage a turn while keeping a pesky creature from harming you.
A Phyrexian Boon on Abyssal Hunter will allow you to deal 4 point of damage to any creature. If that's not enough to kill it, dring the Phyrexian Boon back to your hand with Boomerang, and play it on the opponent's creature the same turn the hunter deals his damage. This is a good way to dispose of late game Serendib Djinns and Scaled Wurms.
Just in case your opponent is playing with all black creatures, you can use the handy Ersatz Gnomes to make one of their creatures colorless just long enough to place Phyrexian Boon on it. If that doesn't kill it, the rest is up to you.
