A brief rundown of the card:
If you bought many Alliances, you problably have a good stack Whirling Catapults laying around (along with Deadly Insects and Reprisals...). They're not a bad card, just often overlooked. Think of it as an alternative to Rocket Launcher. You still can pay 2 mana to deal a point of damage to an opponent (and a few other things in the process). You could think of Whirling Catapult as a means to dispose of flyers in any deck. Blue and white aren't too good at dealing with flyers once they're in play--unless you are using flying creatures too. Whirling Catapult is also good at thinning your deck out very quickly. Just in case you don't have Ifh-Biff Efreets to Spirit Link, you could Animate Artifact a Whirling Catapult then Spirit Link it to have almost the same effect. This is very nasty when added with a replenishable source of flying creatures like Tetravi or wasps.
You won't have to worry about the Whirling Catapult harming you while COP: Artifacts is in play. Just in case you have to play with the catapult and flyers, put Artifact Ward on any flyer--they will take no damage from the fiercesome Whirling Catapult.
Since having only one card in your library and graveyard (total) is a very desirable thing while Soldevi Digger is in play, try Whirling Catapult to run yourself out of cards. Think to yourself...what card would I like to play over and over again each turn? Hmmmmmm.....
Yes, this is kinda silly--but not too bad! Since the treefolk take no damage from artifacts, try making it flying and pay lots of mana into the Whirling Catapult to clear away all other flyers. A 3/5 flyer with no blockers can win many a game.

The Card of the day needs your help BADLY!!! Due to a recent mix-up at Geocities, another homesteader got into my site thinking it was their own. Almost every old card of the day back-up file was lost--and I understand Geocities doesn't keep backups. YOU MAY HAVE SOME OF THESE FILES ON YOUR COMPUTER. IF YOU DO, PLEASE SEND THEM TO ME VIA E-MAIL!!! I do this page for free, out of the love of the game and the mail you people send me! It's kinda fun, and I'm very discouraged right now. I apologize for not having many backups myself. Sorry. If you have recently looked at any of my old cards of the day (gone down and picked something off of the list), you very well may may one of my files still on your computer. If you're fairly computer literate, you know where they reside in cache memory, and could go locate them. They are all called "MMDDYYcardtitle.html". If you could send them to me attached to e-mail, I would really love it, and at least thank you on the main page for one month (at least). If you're not computer literate, but have looked at many old cards on this page in the last few months, send me e-mail, and I'll show you how to send me those files. It won't take much of your time, you'll learn something, and it's easy.
