10/10
Trample
"Leviathan comes into play tapped and does not untap during your untap phase.
Leviathan cannot attack this turn unless you sacrifice two islands.
Sacrifice two islands: Untap Leviathan. Use this ability only during your upkeep."
A brief rundown of the card:
That's a mouthfull. Leviathan is not the most dependable of the big blue creatures, but it is 10/10 trample. If you get to use it, it'll win you quite a few games. Problem is, getting to use it. The sacrificing 2 islands to untap and sacrificing 2 islands to attack is very costly. You must be very sure you can deal with some Holy Day/Fog/Festival type cards before incorporating this beast into any deck. Nothing's worse than pitching 4 lands to untap and attack with the Leviathan, only to have an opponent cast Fog. There are some ways to work around Leviathan's enormous shortcomings though, and a few ways to use it without all of that sacrificing of islands. Unless you make a "Leviathan deck", I recommend not using more than 2 in a deck. They do tend to just sit in your hand. Waiting. Chomping at the bit. Here's some of my favorites ways of trying to win with the coolest looking card (I think) in Magic:
That's more like it. 9 little 1/1 blue creatures is almost always more desirable than one really hungry 10/10 trampler. You can cash in the Leviathan for 9 creatures for just 1UU with the Homarid Spawning Bed. I guess that giant cloud about to swallow a castle makes good lobster fertilizer.
A 10/10 trampler that only costs 2 islands to attack with is pretty tempting. All of the aforementioned cards (and many more) can help you avoid the hefty cost of sacrificing 2 islands just to untap Leviathan. There's not a way to avoid the sacrifice of lands to attack that I know of, but avoiding the untap cost isn't too hard.
These cards are perfect with Leviathan. Both of these cards allow you to have one of your creatures deal it's power in damage to an opponent's creature, while the opponent's creature does the same to your chosen creature. There's less than a dozen creatures I can think of in all of Magic that can withstand this kind of pounding from a Leviathan. You don't even need to sacrifice any islands. Just imagine--the "fearsome" Scaled Wurm or Rathi Dragon squaring off against Leviathan in the squared circle. Let's get ready to rumble....
This neat card from Homelands will not only allow you to untap your Leviathan, but it'll allow you to tap an opponent's creature if played at the right time also. Perfect if your opponent is using such anti-Leviathan cards as Wall of Shadows.
Since you might need lots of islands to sacrifice, Land Tax might come in very handy. There are many ways of filling your hand with lands, but Land Tax is still tops in my list.
You'll probably only have to pay to untap Leviathan once if it doesn't tap to attack. Serra's Blessing makes all of your creatures not tap to attack. An important consideration when using Leviathan.
You're going to need 9 mana to summon the mighty Leviathan. High Tide can get you this mana in about half the time. All islands produce an extra blue for a turn once you cast High Tide. You're going to need all the mana you can get.

I would like to thank the following people for helping me out by sending me some of my lost files. These people all helped motivate me into continuing the Card of the Day. The site is under some construction, some of the archived cards don't work yet. Sorry. Read story below Card of Day review for more info (and maybe you can help too.)
