Remember to hit reload every day or else the new card may not load!
Not all of the old Card of the Day files are working right now. All of the old files should be running within one month. About 70-85% are working now. Sorry for the delays getting new cards done too. Things are getting back to normal rather well.
In this web page, I hope to present to you strategies, combos, and obscure uses for a new
Magic: The Gathering card every single day.
The Card of the Day is...
Dwarven Sea Clan
Homelands Rare
2R Summon Dwarves
1/1
"T: At end of combat, Dwarven Sea Clan deals 2 damage to target attacking or blocking creature. Use this ability only if that creature's controller controls any islands."
A brief rundown of the card:
Here's a card you don't see very often. It's actually a fairly good card, maybe just a little obscure. The ability to zap creatures every turn for 2 damage is kinda nasty, if there were only ways to get around that "attacking or blocking creature" and "only if creature's controller controls any islands" clause...:
- Boiling Blood/Maddening Imp/Nettling Imp/Siren's Call...
If you're having problems getting your opponent's creatures to mix it up with yours in combat (and you probably will have that problem when Dwarven Sea Clan is in play), try forcing your opponent's creatures to come to you. All of these spells (and a few more) are great for forcing your opponent to attack you. Once their Spore Flower or Royal Assassin is attacking, send it a cannonball via air mail. "Why hello Mister attacking Reveka, here's a cannonball just for you".
- Lure/Melee...
If you don't want to force creatures against yourself, try forcing creatures to block one of yours. Add Twiddle just in case your opponent taps their creature right before attackers are chosen (and they can't tap them again). Once the opponent's poor creature is forced to block, zap it with the Dwarven Sea Clan.
- Instill Energy/Puppet Strings...
Oh my, you may not know how deadly the ability to deal 4 damage to an opponent's creature every turn is until you've had the pleasure of using it. As long as your opponent has islands, and you can untap your dwarves, you can unleash 4 damage to would-be agressors.
- Dwarven Lieutenant
This might not be the best way to pump up just one sea clan, but if you have a few dwarves in your deck, Dwarven Lieutenant should be a consideration. Target Dwarf gets +1/+0 for each 1R you pay. Not too bad.
- Phantasmal Terrain
This is the most reliable means of forcing an opponent to control islands. Sure, there are other means, but Phantasmal Terrain requires no upkeep, no activation cost, and works on every land.
- Fungusaur+Tropical Island
Fungusaur rather enjoys being hit with cannonballs. Since your going to need green mana and an island to pull this off, Tropical Island would make a nice addition to your deck. Remember, Fun is in it's name...FUNgusaur.
