The Card of the Day is...
Rolling Stones
Stronghold Rare
1W Enchantment
"Walls can attack as though they were not Walls.."
A brief rundown of the card:
YES!!! My sick and twisted vision of "attacking wall" decks showing up in tournaments as often as Armageddon is one step nearer to completion! Rolling Stone combined with Animate Wall will surely allow all of your favorite walls to do what they rarely get to do---attack. There are many walls that deserve the right to attack, but here are some of my favorites:
- Cinder Wall
This nifty little wall is enormous for it's casting cost. For only one red, you'll have a beefy 3/3 wall. The big catch with Cinder Wall is its usually only a one-shot blocker. It is destroyed at the end of combat if it blocks. You won't have to worry about that silly stipulation with Rolling Stones in play. A 3/3 red attacker for one mana is quite noteworthy. It must be Keith Richard's breath that scares the walls into attacking. This combo was sent into us by Redrum123.
- Sunweb
Screw that "can't block little creatures" clause and wail away with your 5/6 flying monstrosity. This enormous flyer will only cost you 3W also! I must aquire 4 of these Rolling Stones. I wouldn't trade anything too good for them (I know what they're worth). Anyone need an extra Inquisition? Near mint--woo hoo!
- Carniverous Plant
Rolling Stones turns this angry plant into a risk-free Ernham Djinn. P.S. I really do understand why Wizards pulled this from 5th edition as being "to powerfull in a sealed deck enviroment". It is a crippler.
- Illusionary Wall
Aieee! 7/4 flying first strike for 4U might be worth adding Snowfall to your deck to be able to pay the upkeep for a long time.
- Wall of Souls
This Stronghold wall deals an amount of damage equal to however much damage it takes during combat to target opponent. You can easily make this really irritating by causing damage to the Wall of Souls yourself too. It's good to see wierd walls in the new set.
- Drift of the Dead
Of course, you must also play with snow-covered lands. This wall will equate to a Dakkon Blackblade for 3 mana while Rolling Stones is in play and you use only snow-covered lands.
- Shifting Wall
This wall combined with Rolling Stones is like a Phyrexian Marauder you only pay for once! Make the wall as big as you have mana, then attack away.
- Snow Fortress/Wall of Opposition...
Any wall that is cheaply pumpable is ideal with Rolling Stones. Walls almost invariably have big toughnesses, making them awesome pumpable creatures.
- Thunder Wall
Thunder Wall + Rolling Stones = improved blue Killer Bees.
- Tidal Wave+Instill Energy
Sure, both of these cards are instants, therefore only good for one shot, but it's worth it. The sheer look of terror on an opponent's face when attacking with a 5/5 wall out of nowhere is well worth it (and not a bad combo).
