Remember to hit reload every day or else the new card may not load!
Not all of the old Card of the Day files are working right now. All of the old files should be running soon. About 80-95% are working now. Sorry for the delays getting new cards done too. Things are getting back to normal rather well.
In this web page, I hope to present to you strategies, combos, and obscure uses for a new
Magic: The Gathering card every single day.
The Card of the Day is...
Intruder Alarm
Stronghold Rare
2U Enchantment
"Creatures do not untap during their controllers' untap phases.
Whenever any creature comes into play, untap all creatures."
A brief rundown of the card:
This is another really odd Stronghold card that can have some incredible potential. Intruder Alarm can be used either benign or harmfull effects by either allowing you to retap all of your creatures orto keep your opponent from untapping their creatures. This is a sneaky card that shouldn't be messed with without some caution--you could accidently help your opponent. Here are some cards I've used to help both of the uses for Intruder Alarm I mentioned (there may be more?):
- Llanowar Elves...+Thallid+Fungal Bloom
Thallid allows you to place quite a few creatures into play easily enough by itself. Fungal Bloom will speed this procees up quite a bit. If you add Intruder Alarm and 6 mana elves/birds, you could tap the 6 elves for 6 green mana to put 3 spore counters on Thallid (via Fungal Bloom). Remove the 3 counters from Thallid to make a fine Saproling token. Guess what just happened? A creature came into play! Untap all 6 elves and repeat until you have an army of fungus that will allow you to conquer the world! Thank you, thank you very much!
- Wall of Kelp
Wall of Kelp turns into the meanest creature creating machine when Intruder Alarm is in play. Pay UU and tap the Wall of Kelp to make a kelp token. As soon as the token comes into play, you untap the Wall of Kelp and can create another token! Even though they are blue 0/1 walls, they only cost UU and can be created in mass quantities.
- Spike Breeder/Spike Drone/Spike Worker...+Fire Whip
With all of the odd and amazing Spikes there are nowadays, it's pretty easy to create many little spikey token creatures by bouncing +1/+1 tokens about. Add Fire Whip to any of your creatures and you'll get a damage in on your opponent every time you create a creature.
- Aether Storm/Remove Soul...
There are a few ways of keeping creatures from coming into play. Aether Storm is good for long term use while Remove Soul is a cheap means of countering one now and then.
- Siezures/Spirit Shackle...
Since there's probably going to be all this tapping/untapping going on, why not try to get some damage/creature destruction out of it?
