The Card of the Day is...
Carnassid
Stronghold Rare
4GG Summon Beast
5/4
Trample
"1G: Regenerate Carnassid."
Carnassid is quite a steal among creatures. For the same price as Craw Wurm, you could have a trampling and regenerating 5/4 creature instead of a 6/4 Craw Wurm. This beast is not only tough on your opponent's creatures and life, but even tougher to kill. As with most huge casting cost creatures, I don't like "burdoning down" decks with too many Carnassids, but 2 or 3 make a good addition to any good old green creature deck. Being the only trampling regenerater, Carassid has plenty of combos that help greatly in many a situation. Here are few to try with Carnassid:
- Lure
Lure and any regenerater work perfectly together. You can attack away with your scapegoat of the day, while all of your other creatures get to sneak past most of your opponent's blockers. Carnassid's power of 5 and trampling ability make it an even better candidate for Lure (How do you pull that one off Mr. Wizard? Making Carnassid alluring? Yeah, right. I think Carnassid has a face not even his mother loves). Seeing as I'm not here to argue high-concept things, I'll just finish by saying Lure and Carnassid = good.
- Berserk
I don't like mentioning power cards much on the Card of the Day. Most power cards work great in almost every deck anyway. It doesn't matter if you're using Erhnam Djinns or Sea Trolls, a Berserk is an almost must in any creature based deck. With Berserk and Carnassid, I'm making an exception. Normally, Berserk will destroy whatever creature you play it on at the end of the turn. Our friend Carnassid can regenerate back to normal after dealing *10* trample damage to your opponent.
- Arena
With a power of 5 and the ability to regenerate, Carnassid is an excellent choice to get in on in the squared circle. I bet Verduran Enchantress would be Carnassid's wrestling manager, and Carnassid would commonly taunt opponents with "I'm going to knock your head so far down your throat that if you want to comb your hair you'll have to hold the mirror up to your mid-section. Ohh YEAH!!!" Snap into a Slim Jim.
