If you're only looking to pump up a creature's power, Crown of Flames or Firebreathing are far superior choices to Flowstone Blade, yet Flowstone blade is like a delayed-action direct damage spell against creatures when used for defensive purposes. Using Flowstone blade as cheap ceature removal is an excellent idea. It might not fit in well with every red deck you have---you're going to need a fair amount of red mana to off anything large. Maybe try it in an mobo red deck as an alternative to a Disintegrate or Torrent of Lava for a change. Just incase your opponent doesn't have any worthy creatures to bother to kill with a Flowstone Blade, it is also a limited offensive weapon with fair potential.
