Chris' Magic the Gathering Card of the Day!
The Card of the Day is....
Goblin Kites
1R Enchantment
R: A target creature you control, which cannot have a toughness
greater the 2, gains flying until end of turn. Other effects
may later be used to increase the creature's toughness. At end
of turn, flip a coin; opponent calls heads or tails while coin
is in the air. If the flip ends up in opponent's favor, bury that
creature.
A brief rundown of the card:
Send your weenie horde into the air and slaughter your opponent
with a ton a little flying creatures. Who cares if some of your army
can't master the art of kite flying and crash? Red is not really
the color of flying, making this wacky enchantment even more powerfull.
Here's some cool uses for the Goblin Kites:
- Goblin Warrens
People feel a little better about themselves if they gamble with
token creatures. If a few crash, make a few more to take their places.
- Eron the Relentless
Yes, that was toughness no greater than 2, not power. You can
play Eron and hurl him into the air the same turn for a 5/2 flier
for only 6 mana. This combo has almost the same effect as
Thundermare: 5 points of most certainly unblockable damage.
Viashino Sandstalkers and Warriors work well too.
- Balduvian Hydra
Pile massive amounts of heads on your Hydra then cast see how he
soars through the air at your suprised opponent. This will not
work with Rock Hydra. The counters on Balduvian Hydra can be
removed to prevent damage unlike the +1/+1 counters of the Rock
Hydra.
- Dwarven Thaumaturgist
Mess with your opponents mind by putting creatures in the air
that were unelegible before the Dwarf got to them. Good candidates
are Yavimya Ancients, Martyrs of Korlis, or Hand of Justice. No one
will expect it.
