Chris' Magic: The Gathering Card of the Day!
In this web page, I hope to present to you strategies, combos, and obscure uses for a new
Magic the Gathering card every single day.
The Card of the Day is....
Animate Wall
W Enchant Creature
Play only on a Wall. Enchanted creature can attack as though it were
not a Wall.
A brief rundown of the card:
This obscure card is often quickly forgotten about in most collections.
Most players don't even give this underrated card a second thought--
Animate Wall? HA! Ohhh, I could make a fully-functional creature
for the cost of 2 cards instead of the usual one. Why bother? Here's
why bother:
- Blistering Barrier
This has similar results to Erhnam Djinn/Deadly Insect. A 5/2 creature
for 2WR is not too bad.
- Carniverous Plant
Speaking of Erhnam Djinn, attack away with your Erhnam plant while
making fun of the people that joke about its removal from 5th edition.
- Necropolis+Transmutation
You can build Necropolis to mammoth proportions in no time. Add
something like Parapet to get it's ex-power/soon to be toughness to at least 1
(so it doesn't die when you Transmutation it) and then POW! Switch
the power/toughness and attack with your 18/1 Animated Necropolis!
- Crown of the Ages+Wall of Kelp+Sunken City
Keep many kelp tokens around with Wall of Kelp. Animate one of them and attack.
If our brave little attacking salad looks like he will die, move
the Animate Wall to another waiting kelp token with the Crown.
- Drift of the Dead
Think of this like a cheap Dakkon Blackblade, except you *could*
have up to 16 in play at a time (4 Drifts of the Dead, 4 Clones,
4 Dance of the Many, 4 Vesuvian Dopplegangers) unlike only 1 Dakkon.
The overall casting cost is less, and is only 2 colors instead of 3!
- Illusionary Wall
There are very few creatures that can survive a meeting with the
Illusionary Wall, and even fewer opponents that can withstand 3 unblocked hits
by it. **7/4 flying first strike**
- Wall of Opposition/Snow Fortress
Use these easily pumpable walls to wreak havoc in any game. It's
nice to have creatures and not have to worry about only 1 Lightning Bolt.
It's even nicer (I think) to see someone -dare I say-*waste* 2 of them on 1
of your walls.
- Sunweb
Don't let the "not able to block creatures with power greater than 2"
thing concern you, you're going to be too busy attacking every turn with your
animated Sunweb--it'll be too busy to block. This is even a single
color combo!
