Chris' Magic: The Gathering Card of the Day!
Still under major construction
In this web page, I hope to present to you strategies, combos, and obscure uses for a new
Magic the Gathering card every single day.
The Card of the Day is....
Spirit Link
W Enchant Creature
For each damage enchanted creature deals, gain 1 life.
A brief rundown of the card:
Suprisingly reprinted in 5th Edition, this incredible card works just fine on it's own. Either to gain life from putting it on one of your own creatures, or to effectively nullify an attack from almost any creature, Spirit Link is tops on the versatility list. There are a few possibly overlooked uses for Spirit Link though, let's take a look at a few of them:
- Orcish Cannoneers/Orcish Catapult
Tapping your Orcs to do 2 to target creature/player while eating 3 damage yourself is a noteworthy ablilty by itself. Slap a Spirit Link on one of there Orcs, and gain 2 damage when you deal 2 instead! The Orcs actually deal 5 damage when you tap them--2 to target, and 3 to you. Gain 5 life (net 2) with each tapping of these often mocked cards.
- Ifh-Biff Efreet
For each G pumped into Ifh-Biff, he deals 1 damage to each flying creature and player. Imagine how easy it is to get tons of flying creatures that can withstand the 1 damage (The Hive+Parapet...). Now, you'll gain 1 life for each G pumped into Ifh-Biff for each flyer in play and player. Darn impressive.
- Brothers of Fire
Spirit Link on this card effectively makes it read: 1RR: do a point of damage to target creature or player. Even though i feel there are more mana efficient ways to deal damage, this is very card efficient and pumpable.
- Animate Artifact+Voodoo Doll/Goblin Lyre...
Take the dangerous edge off of these and other chancy artifacts by making them creatures, and then Spirit Linking them. You won't have to be as cautious playing these risky game breakers. If your plan backfires and the artifact would hurt you, fret not with Spirit Link. Also works well on Ankh of Mishra, Armageddon Clock, Bottle of Suleiman, Dingus Egg, Dingus Staff, or Mishra's War Machine.
