Chris' Magic: The Gathering Card of the Day!
The Card of the Day is....
Karakas
Legendary Land
Tap: add W to your mana pool. Tap: return taget legend to owner's hand; enchantments on target legend are destroyed.
A brief rundown of the card:
There are only 3 reasons to not use Karakas in place of a Plains... Primal Order, Blood Moon, and Dwarven Miner. If you know you aren't going to face these cards, Karakas should be in your white deck. Only put one of them in your deck unless you plan on using the later mentioned combos--you don't want to get stuck with a spare in your hand. Here are some *rude* combos to use with Karakas:
- Merieke Ri Berit
Merieke's Preacher-like ability kicks--but you can only use it once normally. Take a creature, then return Merieke to your hand (she leaves play) and destroy the creature you stole (or sac it to something like Phyrexian Vault). Repeat as needed.
- Rasputin Dreamweaver
You can suck up all of Rasputin's counters when he comes in play. He costs 4WU to cast--you can get 7 colorless when he comes in play. Hmmmmm.
- Gallowbraid/Morinfen
Reset the horrific upkeep these guys get once they've been around a few turns. Send them back to your hand and cast them again.
- Hazezon Tamar
Did all of your cute little Sand Warrior tokens die? Make more by recasting Hazezon. This is one of the best ways to create massive numbers of disposable creatures every few turns.
