The Card of the Day is....
Drudge Skeletons
1B Summon Skeletons
1/1 B: Regenerate
A brief rundown of the card:
A mainstay of many black decks, the Drudge Skeletons still show up in many a tournament deck. The Drudge Skeletons are cheap to cast, multi-functional in a constructed enviroment, and literally a blessing in limited play. Let's take a look at a few combos to use with Drudge Skeletons:
- Unholy Strength+Dark Ritual
A first turn 3/2 regenerating creature just can't be beat.
- Nevinyrral's Disk
Blow up all non-land permanents in play with the Disk, and regenrate your Skeletons immediatly afterward. Follow up with a Feast of the Unicorn or maybe Howl from Beyond.
- Pestilence
Just leave one black mana around each time you use Pestilence, and your Skeletons will sitck around to ask for more.
- Lure+Venom
All creatures will have to block your fearsome Skeletons, and as soon as they do they all immediatly get tagged for destruction at the end of combat---no matter what happens. As soon as you regenerate your Skeletons they are removed from combat--but it will be after blocking is annouced. All your opponent's non-wall non-tapped creatures will die.
- Eather Flash
Do you like Eather Flash but need to play with weenies of your own? Simply regenerate the Skeletons as soon as they come into play.
- Bad Moon
All black creatures get +1/+1. Last time I looked, the Drudge Skeletons were black.
General Play Strategy: Often times, what I like to do
with my Skeletons is to use them as cannon-fodder/delay. If you Dark Ritual them out on the first turn, by tapping a swamp, for example, it is virtually guaranteed that you can regenerate them
when they are able to attack. By that same token, it's usually true that you will be regenerate them in defense.(yes there are exceptions.)They can give you the time needed to build up to be
able to conjure up some beef.(Ebon Praetor? Lord Of The Pit?)
These skeletons are easily the bolsters of any Black and many
Multi-color deck.-Rich
