The Card of the Day is....
Teferi's Curse
Mirage Common
1U Enchant Permanent
Play only on an artifact or creature. Enchanted permanent gains phasing.
A brief rundown of the card:
At the very least, Teferi's Curse is a great defesive card. You can make an opponent's creature or pesky artifact only usable every other turn (not bad for 1U). I have used this enchantment many times against a variety of offensive creatures, as well as quite a few artifacts. Placing Teferi's Curse on an opponent's Howling Mine or Winter Orb really really helps against "lock" decks. Players seem hesitant to destroy their artifact, and usually let you avoid it's harmfull effects every other turn. Let us take a look at a few more sinister ways of using Teferi's Curse:
- War Barge
Give phasing to the War Barge--then give out islandwalk to as many of your opponent's creatures. At the end of your turn when the War Barge phases out, all the creatures that got islandwalk sink with the boat and die.
- Funeral March
Funeral March isn't very good if you only get to use it once. Place Funeral March and Teferi's Curse on a harmless enemy creature--at the end of your opponent's turn the creature will phase out and leave play triggering the Funeral March effect. Losing a creature every other turn hurts.
- Floodgate
Every time Floodgate leaves play, it unleashes quite a bit of damage late in the game. Teferi's Curse will let you open the gate every other turn.
- Merieke Re Berit
Not only can you steal an opponent's creature with Merieke Re Berit, but once you give her phasing--every other turn the stolen creature will die so you can go get another one!
- Revered Unicorn
You gain life equal to the last paid cumulituve upkeep of Revered Unicorn every time it leaves play. You can safely expedite the unicorn in leaving play with Teferi's Curse.
