Chris' Magic: The Gathering Card of the Day!

The Card of the Day is...
Yawgmoth Demon
Antiquities/Chronicles Rare
4BB Summon Demon
6/6 Flying, First Strike. Sacrifice an artifact during upkeep or tap Yawgmoth Demon and Yawgmoth Demon deals 2 damage to you.
A brief rundown of the card:
A 6/6 flying, first striker for 6 mana is worth building a deck around. Even though this demon has quite an appetite for artifacts, you probably won't need his services for more than a few turns. How many turns can an opponent usually withstand a 6/6 flyer? Not many. Give this beast a try--you might like it. Here are a few cards you can use to help keep your giant flyer happy:
- Diamond Kaleidoscope
The Diamond Kaleidoscope can produce the cheapest artifact creatures around. Would you use Yawgmoth Demon if his upkeep instead was 3 colorless mana? It only take 3 mana to produce Prism tokens-and they are artifacts. Your demon will get his daily vitamins and minerals from eating a Prism token once a day.
- Thran Forge
Make any creature appetizing for the demon by making the creature with Thran Forge. Token creatures work best with Yawgmoth Demon--particularly cheap ones like Wall of Kelp tokens or Tombstone Stairwell zombies.
- Circle of Protection: Black
Just in case you can't afford to take Yawgmoth Demon out to lunch, use COP:Black in your deck. Even though taking a few points of damage to keep a 6/6 flyer around is a small price to pay, the damage will add up quickly over a few turns.
