The Card of the Day is...
Mtenda Lion
Mirage Common
G Summon Lion
2/1 "If Mtenda Lion attacks, defending player may pay U to have it deal no combat damage this turn"
A brief rundown of the card:
Can you say Savannah Lions? But green?!?! This is an incredibly effective card for but one green mana. Not only is green the fastest color for permanent mana, but it's also the color for big creatures. Mtenda Lion is a perfect first turn creature--his only worry is quick white first strikers. Here are a few cards that work very well with Mtenda Lion:
- City of Solitude
Even if your opponent is playing with blue, they will be unable to pay the mana to prevent Mtenda Lion's damage during your turn while City of Solitude is in play.
- Hall of Gemstones
While Hall of Gemstones is in play, during each player's upkeep you pick a color--all lands will then produce that color of mana. Just don't pick blue!
- Giant Growth
I know this is a no-brainer, but a 5/4 attacker on the second turn for only two green mana is worth reminding people about.
