The Card of the Day is...
Worthy Cause
Tempest Uncommon
W Instant
"Buyback 2 (You may pay an additional 2 when you play this spell. If you do, put it into your hand instead of your graveyard as part of the spell's effect.)
Sacrifice a creature: Gain life equal to the sacrificed creature's toughness."
A brief rundown of the card:
If used carefully, Worthy Cause can be almost as good as Diamond Valley. An incredible amount of life can be gained--if you are very cautious with your timing, and maybe try some of the following cards with Worth Cause:
- Wall of Stone+Enduring Renewal
How does 8 life every turn for 2W sound? With Enduring Renewal in play, all creatures you control that go to the graveyard return to play (for free!). Simply field a Wall of Stone (or some other high toughness creature) and sacrifice it every turn with Worthy Cause to gain 8 life. The Wall of Stone will return to play, as will you Worthy Cause to your hand. Repeat as needed.
- Sadistic Glee/Cabal Ghoul+Breeding Pit
A Cabal Ghoul (or a creature enchanted with Sadistic Glee) gets bigger and bigger every time a creature goes to the graveyard. Why not try Worthy Cause to expedite your favorite token creatures to the graveyard? You'll net a life in the process of ballooning your Cabal Ghoul.
- Rukh Egg
Whenever Rukh Egg goes to the graveyard from play, you get a 4/4 flyer put into play on your side. Instead of wasting Lightning Bolts on your Rukh Egg, get 3 life out of it with Worthy Cause.
- Balance
Don't you just hate having to hastily dispose of your creatures right before a big Balance is played? Gain some life out of the process with Worthy Cause. Worthy Cause's buyback ability is extra special when using Balance...you will have an extra card out of your hand if you don't buy it back (probably forcing them to discard another card), or if forcing your opponent to discard is not an issue, buy it back. No wonder Balance is restricted.
