The Card of the Day is...
Wood Sage
Tempest Rare
UG Summon Druid
1/1
"T: Name a creature card. Reveal the top four cards of your library to all players. If any of those cards are the named card, put them into your hand. Put the rest into your graveyard."
A brief rundown of the card:
Most interesting is the Wood Sage. With only a creature heavy deck at it's side, you have a decent chance of getting a card without any assistance. But when we have some help knowing what cards are on the top of the library, Wood Sage becomes an invaluable cheap card drawing mechanism. Don't fret about running out of cards--even though you're going to be putting about 3 cards in the graveyard every turn, you probably won't need to be drawing and playing a creature every turn for very long to win most games. Here are a few of the spiffy things we can do with Wood Sage:
- Goblin Recruiter
The incredible Goblin Recruiter allows you to rummage through your library for any number of Goblins and put them on top of your library in any order. Oh my, the amount of Goblins you can put in your hand in no time with the help of Wood Sage--4 of them at a time for each tapping. What you do with all of those Goblins is up to you. This combo was sent into us by SyD Barrett.
- Bone Harvest
Bone Harvest is one of the best combos with Wood Sage. Perfect for later in the game, Bone Harvest will let you rearrange any number of creatures in your graveyard to on top of your library. Simply bunch all similar cards together, and fire away with Wood Sage. A perfect excuse for playing with 4 copies of a creature! This combo comes to us from Norm Arent.
- Worldy Tutor
Make Wordly Tutor into a Demonic Tutor (still only for creatures though) with Wood Sage.
- Gaea's Blessing
Oops, did you miss guessing a few creatures with Wood Sage? If you have Gaea's Blessings in your deck, sure enough the blessing will be put in the graveyard from your library with the Wood Sage, and you'll get your chance again.
- Visions/Diabolic Vision/Orcish Spy...
Insert your favorite library "peeker" here. I still love the Orcish Spy myself. I like the one with the telescope the best. I do strongly feel the spy is the best choice seriously though. You can use him to know 3 of 4 Wood Sage cards every turn whereas the others are only a one time shot.
- Polar Kraken/Deep Spawn + Animate Dead
Guess incorrectly every turn to ensure the top four cards are going to your graveyard. Wood Sage is one of the safest, quickest means of filling your graveyard! Make sure to call out really fearsome creatures when incorrectly guessing at Wood Sage and don't let on you're kidding. Call out such names as Shivan Dragon, Nicol Bolis, Arc Angel, and Serendib Djinn! HAHAHAHA.
