The Card of the Day is...
Festival
The Dark Common
W Instant
"Target opponent cannot declare an attack this turn. Play during that opponent's upkeep phase."
A brief rundown of the card:
I like to think the text on Festival reads: "Pay one white to live one more turn". Not a bad card for any type of creature defense, but even more potent as a devastating creature killer when used properly with some of the following:
- Nettling Imp/Norritt/Maddening Imp
All of these creatures work well in forcing all of your opponent's non-wall creatures into attacking every turn. If you celebrate a Festival the turn you force all of your opponent's creatures to attack, they'll all die partying. For how good this combo is, I'm kinda surprised I don't see it more in big tournaments.
- Siren's Call/Imp's Taunt/Boiling Blood
Any of these fine instants will most certainly kill at least one (or all with Siren's Call) of your opponent's creatures with a well timed Festival. Remember, surprise is everything.
- Arcum's Whistle
This is definately not the cheapest means of forcing opponent's creatures to attack, but it does only require colorless mana---it'll fit in any deck.
