The Card of the Day is...
Tahngarth's Rage
Tempest Uncommon
R Enchant Creature
"If enchanted creature is attacking, it gets +3/+0. Otherwise, it gets -2/-1."
A brief rundown of the card:
Very nasty for only one red mana is Tahngarth's Rage. It's almost as good as a Giant Growth every turn--if used correctly. The creatures enchanted with this will be really cool when attacking--but not so hot for defense. You can avoid some of this by having other good blockers, or use Tahngarth's Rage on creatures with very high toughnesses. Here are a few ways to try to work with Tahngarth's Rage:
- Ernham Djinn
As if most Ernham Djinns need help...Tahngarth's Rage will make an 8/5 attacker - 2/4 blocker for only 3RG and two cards. Cool.
- Juggernaut/Hulking Cyclops/Bloodrock Cyclops...
Since these creatures must attack/can't block anyway, Tahngarth's Rage is perfect.
- Castle/Parapet
If you'll be needing your enchanted creature to block and you'd like them in good condition, either of these enchantments will overcome Tahngrath's Rage's shortcoming (and then some).
- Rabid Wombat
Tahngrath's Rage is really neat on a Rabid Wombat. When attacking, the wombat will be net +5/+2! Even when it's not attacking, it'll be net +0/+1. I may consider putting red in my wombat deck now---+5/+2 for one red (while attacking only) is just too cool.
