Front Cover of this sourcebook |
Wherein the reader shall find a plate of coruscating beauty, commissioned by the Library at great cost (and great sacrifice) by one of the finer artists of free Barsaive, depicting the Bearers of Akasha themselves, their gazes fix'd on a distant airship...by simpler speech, the Front Cover of this sourcebook. |
How the Bearers of Akasha came to be |
Wherein credit is given where credit is due, and the hidden hands who work the marionettes are revealed. Said marionettes dance, caper, and otherwise entertain, but above all inform, with a story that is more than the sum of its parts, but an eloquent allegory of modern Barsaive. |
A Short History (Including Journal Entries of characters) |
Wherein close examination of the fabric of this story reveals that each individual thread merits attention, scrutiny, debate, and explication; history is not, then, a solid sheet of matter, but an unfinished tapestry with one terminus still clamped in the loom, and the kindly weaver of the Present still labouring; wherein also these individual threads, in the form of journals, diaries, and possibly ephemerides, are drawn forth for the reader's convenience. |
Personalities |
Wherein the personalities of our tale are introduced; whether surly, amicable, or a bit of both, those worthies wait within, wanting only to welcome a reader with huzzahs and hoorays. |
Notable Moments and Quotes |
Wherein teardrops are frozen and put on display; namely, the bon mots and witticisms which, in our mercurial and forgetful society, are so often lost forever after their presentation. |
Unique Places in Barsaive |
Wherein locales of all sorts are listed; not a travel guide, but a compendium of places so bizarre, fascinating, and individual that their uniqueness requires celebration, announcement, dissemnination, et al. |
House Rules |
Wherein some of the worldly physics of Barsaive are explained; wherein conclusions presented are the result of much spirited argument by renowned experts; wherein this tome waxes existential, for if categorical objectives are not empirical, then where lies certainty? |
Magical Treasures |
Wherein jewels (both literal and metaphorical) are catalogued for the reader's enjoyment and aedification; expect to find within not only dimensions, but the loving history of an individual piece; dwarves have struggled and died for the knowledge within, so the reader is urged to use it well! |
New Spells |
Wherein patterns are drawn to the Throalic Library like moths to a flame, and incantations from all round are carefully detailed, double-checked, and authorized within. |
Scholarly Feedback and Survey Section (Including Scholars Symposium) |
Wherein YOU, dear reader and scholar of esteem, are invited to offer your comments, criticism, and (one hopes) compliments on the work presented by the humble hands of Throalic dwarves; wherein your suggestions are not sent into a void, but read, logged, reflected upon, and even occasionally acted upon, all as means to the end of creating a compleat and useful aid! |
Bibliography and Related Works |
Wherein our sources of inspiration receive their thanks; wherein our knowledgeable bibliographers can suggest further avenues of study and enlightenment; we stand on the shoulders of our influences, and it is only their succor that allows us to reach so far. |
Back Cover of this sourcebook |
Wherein the scholars of the Library bid you farewell with a gift: another rendered plate depicting Our Heroes in stark black-and-white, with a summary for those just browsing, and a hopeful impetus to seek more, yet more knowledge, in the Name of Throal and the heroes of Barsaive! |
Updated Information and Scholarly Revisions of this Work |
Wherein a supplemental tome is included to ensure that the scholar has access to the most recent and relevant information concerning the Bearers, and our continuing work on this Project is detailed; finally, encouragement is given to scholars to return in the near future, as you, dear readers, will be pleasantly surprised and informed! |
