From the notes of Caarad Surestrider, submitted to Borrum Binbalik for his work "On the Bearers of Akasha"
During my conversation with Briana, she would frequently look upwards and do a bird call. After the fifth time, I inquired as to the nature of these seemingly random interludes. Briana told me of her missing eagle, Henning. Being a woodswoman and an elf, Briana has always had very strong ties to nature. Over the course of her life, she has had a number of animal companions whom she has cared deeply for. Henning was the most recent of these but unfortunately, he has been missing since the Bearers left for Scavia on 17 Teayu, 1508.
Convinced that the eagle is still alive, Briana was still trying to call the bird in an attempt laced with hope and concern. Being a troubadour and somewhat versed in the ways of nature and sounds, I asked if she would mind my trying. She gave her assent, and I tried to no avail. Briana thanked me for the effort, and told me not to worry. She was convinced that one day someone, if not her, would call and Henning would come. Her conviction of his being alive is an example of how important hope is in each person's life.
Perhaps one day, that certain someone will call out and bring Henning back to those who care for him.
Editor's Note: After her return from the River Pearl, Briana found Henning alive and well in the same glade where they first met years ago.
