When first found, the Darken Eye simply appears to be a black, lusterless gem about the size of a pebble. When placed into an eye (or eye socket) and powered by two points of blood magic, it enteres the eye and swells to fill the socket, destroying any original eye, leaving only a black orb where the eye was. This act almost certainly results in a Horror Mark to the creator of the Eye.

Key Knowledge: The Wearer must know that the Name of the Eye is the Darken Eye.
Deed: The Eye must be inserted into one of the wearer's own eyes. (This act is worth 150 LP)

Effect: The Eye changes to mimic the eye it replaces, with a few faint differences. The pupil is very faintly cloudy, and the iris seems to be veined very faintly in red. These changes are difficult to spot, however, requiring a Perception Test of 15 to detect (21 if there is no second eye to compare to). The wielder gains normal vision, low-light vision, and astral sight (straight perception roll) through that Eye.

Effect: At a cost of one strain, a gem like the original may be removed from the Eye. The wearer may now look out of the gem as if the Eye were where the gem is. While the gem is out of the Eye, the wearer cannot see out of the Eye (or use the Rank One powers unless through the gem). The removed gem stops functioning at sunrise, or when a new gem is created. New gems are created in the Eye at any time by the sacrifice of a recovery test, or at the end of eight hours rest. A removed gem cannot be placed back into the Eye. The Eye can only hold one gem at any time. There is no range restriction, but astral observers can detect a thread between the gem and the Eye by achieving an excellent success against the spell defense of the Eye.

Deed: The Wearer must use the Rank Two ability ten times. This Deed is worth 300 LP.
Effect: The wearer of the Darken Eye can use the eye to immobilize one target by staring at them. Upon activating the power, the eye turns into a black orb that completely entrances the victim. The wearer makes an effect test at step 15 against the victim's social defense. Until the victim succeeds in a willpower test against the result, he can only stare into the Darken eye, terrified and unable to act. The wearer must maintain eye contact at all times or the effect ends.

Effect: The second and third ranks can now be used together -- once a victim is entranced, the eye may be removed, entrancing the victim until another person covers the eye (which now appears to be a gem) up.
Key Knowledge: The Wearer must learn the Name of the Horror that created the Eye. Agurth Plaga created these eyes to empower his servants while in a distant location as well as allowing him to observe their actions.
Cost: 2250 LP
Effect: The final thread allows the wearer to implant a command into an entranced victim. This step requires that the wearer entrance a victim, remove the eye, and then replace one of the victim's eyes with the gem. Once in place, the gem transforms to look the same as the eye it replaces. The victim can think of nothing else until he completes the command given to him. Once complete, the eye socket becomes a bloody mess as the eye once again turns into a tiny gem.
