The Apprentice Qualification Test

The following series of questions was developed by Borrum Binbalik, based on the presumed qualifications necessary to be an "apprentice" of Killian the Red. It is designed to help the reader draw their own conclusions about the true nature of Boy's status. Please remember that any opinions arrived at are not necessarily the opinions of the scholars involved with this work.

1) As an apprentice of Killian the Red, what Name will you go by?


A: Your real Name
B: Apprentice
C: Boy

2) During an extended training journey, you make camp with Killian the Red. As the apprentice, do you take:


A: First watch
B: Second watch
C: Both watches

3) During the same journey, you are attacked by some Horror constructs. Do you defend:


A: Yourself
B: Killian
C: Killian's keg of ale

4) As an apprentice of Killian, what is the most important contribution you can make to society:


A: A sword for a father to hand down to his son?
B: A scepter fit for the highest of royalty?
C: A stein

5) At an inn, Killian orders a fine brithan steak. As the apprentice, what do you ask Killian to order for you?


A: Another order of fine brithan meat
B: A mixture of vegetables for energy and health
C: Cat-hurlg and zoak feet until you are more worthy

6) Killian believes that an appreciation of alcohol is closely linked with good smithing. He asks you what the best type of drink is.


A: A fine elven wine of proper vintage
B: A stout dwarven ale from the Scythian mountains
C: Hurlg

7) Killian shows you how to forge a short sword, suitable for windling use. It is a fine blade. Do you celebrate by:


A: Joining Killian for drinks in the local tavern that afternoon?
B: Joining Killian in his revelry that evening?
C: Spending the next forty-eight hours forging a large order of the same swords due in two days

8) People ask you why you stand for such rough treatment. How do you answer?


A: Because you swore a blood oath
B: Because you want to be a weaponsmith of extraordinary ability
C: Run and get Killian to come answer the question for you

9) After a battle in the mountains, Killian is particularly parched.
