...the
five warriors, worn and tired, sailed south with the warriors of The Church
of the Scar at their side. They had been through fire and deathly cold
mountain temperatures, losing comrades to the savage beasts that walked the
earth, yet they had prevailed, and for what??? They are fighters for
justice and keepers of the peace, but had they met their match, was the evil
just to strong this time. None of them could know, their
destiny awaited them at the Isle of Ruins. The hours passed, and yet
the boat brought them closer and closer to impending doom. They acted
as though they were brave and couragous, yet each one of them secretly prayed
to the gods that they may live. As they neared the isle it was lighted
with the campfires of the enemy that would soon move on to the mainland to
spread death and decay. Small rowboats, gained passage for the warriors,
for they were still undetected, and there they sat on the rocky beach, waiting
for the sun to cover the land. For then they would have their greatest
chance for victory. If the five warriors only knew what they had found....
Formerly
known as the Isle of Ruins,
the
Isle of the Southern Cross is
located
on the largest island in the South Eastern Corner of the World. (This
would be off of the regular palladium map) Directly south western of our
isle is our neighbor Noah's Paradise, who's island is smaller but the more
fertile of the two. Around us microscopic islands are abundant, and
are currently considered under the control of Noah's.
Southwind Castle was originally built by Rachel (Elven Mind Mage), Father Darius (Elven Priest), Walgoth (Endroth Rogue Martial Artist), Morgan (Elven Palladin), Robin (Elven Longbowman), Daemon (Orc Witch), and Edrick (Elven Ranger) with the fortunes that they found throughout various adventures. The kingdom thrived as changling peasants as well as every other race took refuge on our island. The original King was Edrick, may his insanity prone mind live long in our hearts :). He later stepped down as king, and a man by the name of Jeremy of peasant background, proved himself worthy of running the kingdom through honor and hard work. After things were running smoothly our adventurers left the kingdom to seek out future alliances, during our exploits Father Darius met his death, Walgoth left us, and we were joined by a titan by the name of Cristo. The Southern Cross journiers returned to the isle only to find mass death, but a castle still intact. Later to be learned that Walgoth was turned on us be the forces of evil. Fortunately Walgoth met his death soon afterwards. :), Rachel being the longest survivor, and veteran of the group was proclaimed Queen of the Isle, but her stay as queen was limited for the night of their arrival at the island she went upon the highest tower of the Castle and shouted a challenge into the mist to the destroyers of our people. A teleporter opened and she went through, never to be seen again. It was then decided to name Cristo our king (King of what, I don't know), and eventually the Southern Cross journiers left. The castle was left as a standing reminder of kingdoms gone and passed, only a bookmark in the passage of time.
The story was passed on throughout the S.C. journiers to their new comrades, as the original journiers met there unfortunate death. Well time passed, and then one day an Elven Psi-Mystic by the name of Lancelot suggested we return to the isle and make it great once again. It took hold in the little group and journiers began there long trek back to the Isle of the Southern Cross.
Time passed and the group kept on getting side tracked with everything from earning an honest days living to saving the Palladium world. Lancelot finally had enough of it, and decided to split up with the group to go find some new inhabitants for the Isle, promising that he would see them again someday. Lancelot traveled from Yin-Sloth to Timero on foot, stopping at every city on the way, finding people who were down on their luck, and needed a new start in life. After gaining a few hundred followers, Lancelot highered a captain to bring them all back to the place he'd heard so much about, a place that stood for honor and justice, a place of mysteries and histories untold, a place they call.....The Isle of the Southern Cross!
