A double backflip cartwheel sideways flip over Liandra triple somersault handstand flip land bow Landrin gave a wide smile as he heard the audience explode in a quite loud uproar. He stood upright again and motioned to his tumbling team. Liandra flipped off of Drakor, landing on her feet with an equal grace to that of Landrin. She also gave a bow and the audiences cheers deafened all conversation that could have been going on. Drakor continued juggling his 6, stripped balls while he made his way towards center stage. He threw all six into the air, one at a time, and did a quick flip, landing on the front of the center stage. He looked up for a moment, then caught the balls one at a time, juggling the balls as they came with one hand as he caught them with the other. When all six where caught, he gathered up the balls one at a time and placed them in his arms. The crowd loved this type of stuff and showed it with their cheers of great joy.
Landrin peered over the crowd and glanced at the innkeeper who wore a smile upon his face, showing that he was pleased of the performance. Soon, the next act started up. Landrin and Liandra did a duel tumbling act. This continued on for a while and soon the crowd died down to go to sleep. It was nearly time for the trio to turn in for the night.
As they were packing their belongings up to move to their rooms, the innkeeper approached them. He was a plump man, not much different from most innkeepers Landrin has seen. He still wore the same smile upon his face as he did before. An astounding performance. Absolutely breathtaking, I tell you.
Liandra gave a pleasant smile as she placed her performance shoes into her pack. Landrin walked over to the innkeeper. We thank you greatly for agreeing to give us food and a room to stay in for our performance. If the innkeeper didnt know any better, he would have sworn that Landrin talked like a noble. And, as he should, for Landrin was the son of a lord.
As for the rest of them, Liandra was the acrobat of the group. Sure, there really was not much of a difference between her acrobatics and Landrins tumbling, but she still did have her own, unique tricks up her sleeve that Landrin tried to learn a few times, but failed.
Darkon was the groups juggler. And a damn good one at that. Landrin can easily remember back to when Darkon juggled fifteen balls at once! It was outside, and he just kept them in the air for a few minutes before his arms got tired. They all gave their thanks to the innkeeper and went up to their room. The inn was packed that night, so they only had one room available for the three. Landrin naturally gave up the bed to Liandra, but Darkon thought otherwise and they started to argue over who got the bed that night. Surely, they could share it, but Landrin would not approve of that, for he had special feelings for Liandra that he hasnt been able to express to her yet. Hes felt that way ever since they first met. He really doesnt know whether or not she shares his feelings, but he hasnt let that get in the way of their friendship.
So, naturally, Landrin stood up for Liandra and Darkon was, once again, forced to sleep on the floor like Landrin. As the three got ready for bed, thoughts of the past raced through Landrins head.
The wind flowed through Landrins long, brown hair. He smiled as he raced his horse through the open fields, scattered here in there with a few trees. He was on his way home. At the age of 16, Landrin was a very in-shape elf. He has been practicing his tumbling since he was very little. His father, Toreth, had disapproved of him working on being a tumbler at first. He didnt think a noble should throw away a life of royalty to that of a commoner. But, with a little persuasion, he and his mother talked him into allowing it.
The Old Kingdom lowlands where a beautiful place this time of year. The air was fresh and warm to the skin. Landrin rode his horse back to the stables near his home. After dismounting, he walked to the house and went in.
Father? Mother? I have some great news, he called out as he entered the main hall.
Toreth and Stephanie came in from separate areas and greeted him. What is it, my dear, Stephanie asked her son in a thoughtful, yet curious, tone.
I met some new friends today. Landrin was excited at his news. A duo tumbling group. I saw them in the towns inn. They were remarkable. Well, I talked to them and soon we got to know one another pretty good. And, they wanted me to join up with them. So, I said yes.
The evening went on with Landrin trying to explain to his father that this is what he wanted to do. In the end, Toreth decided that it would be all right for his son to travel with these people and perform for everyone. Landrin was so happy. He had finally found his place in life. And the other great part about it, is that he would be able to spend time with that elven woman that was part of the group. Liandra was her name, and she was the most beautiful person he has ever met.
The next day, Landrin went off with his new friends. Of course, he hid the fact that he felt some attraction to Liandra, but he thought that someday, something would happen and they could be together. But, he wasnt going to be the one to make the first move, he always thought to himself.
Nine years have gone by since. Drakor had grown a bit older then. Sure, they were all around the same age, but being a human, Drakor looked much older than the two elves. He didnt mind, though. He liked his friends, and they liked him. Soon, Landrin was off to sleep and awaiting the next performance the next day.
It was evening the next day, the trio had already made it to the next town and soon found an inn to perform in for the night. Only, tonight was very different than every other night. Something happened that would stick in Landrins mind forever.
Drakor was going to do his famous juggling act with six flaming axes. He knew what he was doing, and he had everything under control. He was halfway through his act when, without warning, he suddenly toppled over and passed out. There were three axes still flying up in the air as Drakor hit the ground. A shocked silence fell over the crowd as the first axe reached it peek height. Landrin and Liandra stood up from their chairs in shock as it started to fall. Landrin could feel his heart beat as the axe fell in almost slow motion.
NO!! Landrin ran towards Drakor as the axe fell, faster and faster But he was too late. The axe already hit, driving itself deep into Drakors back. The other two soon followed as Landrin fell back in shock. A pool of blood quickly formed where Drakors body was. The crowd was silent except for Liandra. Landrin could hear her crying as he stumbled backward to her.
He turned to her and embraced her to help calm both of them down. Liandra continued to cry as the innkeeper showed all of the audience out of the performance area. Soon, the towns guards came to see what was going on. Landrin and Liandra were silent for the rest of that night.
In the morning, Landrin told Liandra that he couldnt perform anymore because of the accident. With a few words and many tears, Landrin left Liandra to go see the world. He has been traveling for a year, now. He constantly thinks of Liandra. He has been performing to stay alive over that year of traveling. He thought he found his place in life, apparently he was wrong.
