The Dragon Talisman
Status of the Group
Still no fatalities, Dark Rider (DR) has continued his obsession with guns, I think he now has over a dozen.. most of which are sawed off shotguns. The Metal Juggernaut (MJ) is still in love with the ever popular Hippy-mobile. Tsunami is making a name for himself, and Shroud continues his mysterious ways...
The Dragon Talisman
Shroud was sleeping, tired from days of hard work. His mind finally able to rest from all of the madness in the world. In his dreams he pictured the wonders of New York city as he looked around he saw the harbor, and street names in Chinese...he was sleeping.... he looked all around in at the wondrous glower, Suddenly a shadow was cast over him, he looked up to the sky and saw....a dragon, one very pissed off dragon might I add. It was flying directly for New York City. Shroud's knuckles hardened as he started to make fists when he noticed a medallion in his hand. A circular metal object with the picture of a Dragon inscribed on it, the dragon started coming towards him....
He woke with a start, a cold sweat covered his muscular body. The dream had seemed all to real, to lifelike, yet.... it couldn't be. His eyes tensely looked around for any sign of danger within the room, and he settled down with the reassuring feeling that he saw everything was in place. A smirk crossed his face as he thought of his own little nightmare. Moments later the alarm clock went off and he headed to the kitchen table to join the others for some breakfast. He told the others of his dream, and they did their best to listen to his tale. They all promised they'd check it out after work.
Dark Rider and the Metal Jugg. left for work with the subliminal message machine (missing an important part) and the others left also. They arrived at work to find the usual crowd standing around the damn coffee maker, all of them resistant to taking the last cup in the pot, because they'd have to make more. After finishing some of the fine tuning on the car that they'd been working on all week, the Metal Jugg. and Dark Rider sat around watching the others work for a change. As they were relaxing they heard footsteps coming towards them, they both got up to see an oriental man in his early 30's approach them, along with a few goons.
MJ and DR led them off to a small area in the body shop by some vending machines to talk business without being overheard. The Oriental man showed them the tapes as promised by Nighthawk. After inspecting the tapes, the trade was made (The tapes for the subliminal message machine), and the little party broke up.
Arriving home later that night, wondering all day if the tapes had been copied, DR and MJ showed them to Tsunami and Shroud. Tsunami, knowing a little about about video's etc., looked over the tapes and determined that the tapes seemed to have an oriental make. The Metal Jugg. quickly called Darkin's over at Monolith studios, and our suspicions were confirmed, the tapes were frigg'n copies!
Well, the next day DR and MJ went into work as usual. Well in comes the doctor (cough Nighthawk) in to pick up his car. We told him we knew the tapes were copies and we wanted the originals, of course he in reply told us that the faulty subliminal message we gave him is no better then a toaster. Somehow, he ended up wanting to take his car out for a spin before he paid for it, so MJ told him he'd go along just to make sure "everything was alright with car". We left the lot, and hit the streets (25 mph speed limit), well we were cruising along.. 30..40...50...60..70...100 until we got towards the beach. He aimed the car right at a telephone poll, and he literally flew out of the car. MJ in desperation, turned into metal form and jumped out his door. The car ran into the telephone poll and blew up. M.J. was ok, but unfortunately, couldn't find the Nighthawk, so he just took a cab back to the autoshop.
Chinatown
Well, that night, Shroud had yet another dream, basically the same as the other dream. The next day Shroud took off for Chinatown (remember the streets named in Chinese) for he thought there he'd find the Dragon Talisman. He was searching through the Novelty stores and such for the talisman with no luck, and then he finally asked one of the shopkeepers. The shopkeeper said that earlier in the day that item had been purchased, by a man with a scar. Shroud was the 3rd person to ask about it. When Shroud asked for details, he was told he'd have to talk to Mrs. Chang who actually is the one who sold the item.
Meanwhile Tsunami got a call from Detective Miller (one of Tsunami's contacts) He was also told of the Dragon Talisman, which they learned about through a police psychic. Apparently Wang Zi, leader of the underground Chinese Mafia had an interest in it. Also it seems that Wang Zi has a scar. Tsunami headed on down to China town and was lucky enough to run into Shroud, they shared information, and went to see Mrs. Chang.
Meanwhile Dark Rider and Metal Juggernaut were out on patrols with a motorcycle and the hippy mobile respectively. Well it was around lunch time, so they stopped at a McD's (hell, where else? :)) Well they were eating their calorie / fat / everything else loaded lunch an Oriental man came over to them. He introduced himself as Chang Tsu, member of the Temple of the Dragon King in Tibet. He is also seems to be in search of the Dragon Talisman, and asked us if we'd help. After a few questions and the norm we decided we would help him find it. He also told us of Golock, an Asian in his early 30's. We are to be weary of him, for he also seeks to talisman, and plans to do bad things with the talisman. Well, we also took off for Chinatown, and started to look around. (Chang Tsu rode shotgun in the hippy mobile)
Mrs. Chang talked to Shroud and Tsunami, and told them of how she sold the talisman, etc.. and also mentioned another faction searching for the talisman (Chang Tsu and Golock). I believe she also mentioned something about the Chinese underground mafia, and she might have also mentioned something about the restaurant "The house of the Rising Sun" (Hey, isn't that Japanese?) Well, anyway, they left Mrs. Chang's house and were going out to look when they ran into the rest of the group just coming into Chinatown. Well, we all shared our info., and by then it was supper time. We headed for the restaurant "The house of the Rising Sun".
The restaurant was sparsely populated, but it was real spiffed because the cooks made the food right in front of ya, unfortunately, we had to leave all our weapons back in the car, and DR's weapons had been taken away upon entering the restaurant. Well as best as I can recall, in come a bunch of guys dressed in black suits, along with Wang Zi. Chang Tsu went over to demand the talisman, and the a fight started.
We all ran over to protect Chang Tsu, and DR ran for his guns (Auto Mag, and a Colt). The Metal Juggernaut "reacted" the quickest and while surveying the area, he saw that one of the mob guys, beat Dark Rider to his guns, and grabbed the Auto Mag, and was about to blow Dark Rider away. So the Metal Jugg. ran at the mobster, and he shot at MJ instead of DR (of course the Metal Jugg. had turned metal) and the bullets ricocheted off doing no damage. Dark Rider grabbed the colt.... well, lets just say we had one dead mobster. :) Meanwhile the batter raged on over with the other guys. It seems as Chang Tsu can shoot fire, (what else can this guy do?) and well the battle went well for us. No casualties on our side, all casualties on their side. :)
(Next Update) Well, the dust settled and we stood victorious, well kinda, the people in the restaurant started trampling on outta there, and poor Shroud with was unconscious on the floor bleeding and being stepped on. After everyone left we couldn't find Chang Tsu, and we also couldn't find the Dragon Talisman. The only other person left in the restaurant was Gollock, and he didn't look happy. Well, we all figured it out that we got played for a sucker and helped the wrong guy out. After calling MJ's uncle (retired doctor) we hauled Shroud into the Hippy-mobile and MJ drove on over to his house. Shroud was easily taken care of, but will have to take it easy for awhile. Back at the restaurant Tsunami found out that Gollock was the "true" champion of the the Dragon temple... (Man, who to believe), and that we had to get the dragon talisman back before Chang Tsu summoned the Dragon. All in all, we decided to team up, and we all met back at the restaurant a little later.
With no leads to follow we were looking for even the slightest clue, and tried all paths in hunting down Chang Tsu. Dark Rider had Gat's butler / computer hacker Lerold working around the clock getting flight schedules, and hotel names. Everything he could think of. We all just kind of patrolled around Chinatown, praying we'd get lucky, and after a few days of no luck Gollock got us looking more systematically. We even got suspicious of Golock, because what if he was just supposed to distract us while his counterpart Chang Tsu did the rest. Shroud even followed Golock back to his hotel one night just to make sure he was having meetings with anyone. Fortunately he was clean, and was lagit in his search for Chang Tsu.
It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's.....
Well, one day, we were going on patrols and Tsunami along with Gollock saw Chang Tsu standing up on a building. At that exact moment somewhere else in the city, DR, MJ, and Shroud saw the Drag. MJ called up DR, and DR came and picked up MJ in his super van. Shroud saw the Drag heading towards school children on a playground so he started putting up force fields to protect them should the Drag attack. MJ climbed into the turret mounted on DR's van and they were off to have a little fun. MJ did a burst on the drag which did little damage to his structure, but the force of the blow knocked him into a building (opps), and then DR fired some of the front mounted heavy arsenal and totally missed the dragon, and he leveled a different building (big opps). We were just about to go in for the kill, when the thing disappeared because meanwhile Tsunami and Gollock were in there own little melee with Chang Tsu. They took Chang Tsu and got a hold of the talisman making the Dragon disappear.
We all found each other after the melee, and were about to go celebrate when the "Protector" showed up with some unknown "super heroes". The Protector demanded that we turn over the talisman so that he could give it to the authorities, (we figured that he was possessed or something at the time, because the Protector is one of our main buds) and we refused telling him that Gollock was to take the talisman back to Temple of the Dragon in Tibet where it'd be safe.
Well, our little conversation got us into a brawl, we purposely weren't trying to kill the Protector cus that'd be very bad PR if it really was him and not some impersonator. Well, the melee got under way, and MJ lost all his powers "for some inexplicable reason" and it was swayed in their direction until Tsunami and Shroud got some blows on the Protector which sent him sprawling to the ground, and the others took off. We tried to kinda question the Protector, but to no avail, and it wouldn't do any good to send him to jail or the police, so we just sent him on his merry way.
Care to Get High?
Well, we brought Gollock back to the base to keep him safe until we could get him safely back to Tibet. He stayed the night and the next day we got a little piece of mail. Not often getting mail we got all perinoid about it, and did everything but send it to FBI. We finally opened it and it was an offer that said basically the following: "You have been chosen as first of lucky people who can try our teas. The teas will give you super powers for a limited time. The first time is absolutely free, and if you like it, we'll work out some deal as to keep you satisfied in the future. Please go to so and so and talk to Mr. so and so if you are interested".
After our little meet up with the Protector we figured that he had tried the stuff, and maybe that was what was screwing him up, and along with that, that's how all those no name "super heroes" happened to be with him. They had drank the tea. Well, eager to solve yet another mystifying case we made tracks for the address on the letter. When we arrived, a Chinese man let us in, and thanked us for coming, and then asked us which of the teas we would like. We went through the usual questioning. (Basically this business of sorts had started out in China, and his boss, Mr. Chaing, was trying to expand to America, we were chosen because they just wanted to try it on some of the local heroe's before they went nation wide) We asked to speak with Mr. Chaing, and we, to our surprise, were allowed to see him right away. The guy hopped in his car and we followed him to some expensive hotel where we went to the top floor suite, to find Mr. Chaing along with a Chinese women in the room. (Wonder what they were doing :))
He gave us the basic spiel and even has his assistant demonstrate the use of the tea, which he was able to do very nicely. We had some thinking to do, so we told him we'd think on it for awhile, and if we were interested, we'd contact his assistant.
(Next Update- Going to try and type this up differently, first person point of view, so please understand if I accidentally revert back and forth between the old and the new way :)
From the files of the Metal Juggernaut (a.k.a Jack Morris):
We all went back to the main base, and Gatz came in the base and told Dark Rider that Larold had been looking up Nighthawk's history on the net, and that he discovered that Nighthawk was actually Dark Rider's half-brother. Dark Rider hid most of his emotion, so who knows what he thought about it, but I was sure as hell shocked.
We all decided we had things to do. I think Dark Rider went to buy more ammo. Shroud decided to hang out Mr. Chiang's assistant's house, Mr. Chin, to see if anything happened. I went to check out Chinatown some more. I had a theory that Mr. Chiang is somehow connected with the Chinese Underworld, so I went to see what I could find out about the Chinese Underworld, and what they were up to since the death of their leader, Wang Xuei. I managed to discover that they were currently in search of the people who killed the leader (us), but couldn't find out anything else, so eventually I went back to the base.
When I got back DR was working on painting a full size van that he bought for undercover missions, (Man that guys loaded with cash). Said he's going to disguise it as a electrical repair van. Shroud was also back and according to what he told us, this is what happened: -He was watching Chin's apartment when Chin had a visitor, and Shroud was able to sneak in. He listened to Chin and the visitor chat for awhile, and he was finally able to learn that the man was named Mr. Morris. Mr. Morris and Chin went off to Chiang's and Shroud followed. I guess he snuck (invisible and flight) in and was listening in on the conversation when Morris and Chin left, and Chiang just started staring at Shroud. Shroud said that Chaing could see him while he was invisible. Chiang, went and opened a window, and Shroud flew out, and the window slammed down behind him, and then he came here-
I sat around the base for awhile with Gollock, but then went to sleep, because tomorrow would be another long day.
Anyone seen a Dragon Talisman?
The next morning, we all went to the airport to see Gollock off to Tibet on a private plane of somebody he knew. Shroud insisted on going with him, so he hopped aboard and said he'd find a way back. We bid him good luck, and I left for the Chinatown again to see what else I could find. I spent most of the day just looking around Chinatown, trying to familiarize myself with all the stores and such, and eventually I headed back to the base.
We were all just kinda of screwing around when Shroud gives us a call. He said, "In Africa at (so and so city), the pilots landed the plane off course and Nighthawk joined them, and they stole the Dragon Talisman from us, and also my Rune Staff. We're (Gollock and Shroud) going to catch a flight back on a cargo plan, that lands in Baltimore, pick us up there at so and so time, tomorrow). We bid them good luck, and told em we'd be there. It was getting later, so I went to bed.
The next morning I was awaken by a knock at the door (highly unusual), so I got up to answer it and found Tsunami and Dark Rider up doing the same. We got there and it was Mr. Gatz, "My butler Larold, says that he saw someone sneaking around the base here, and I saw a person also. Thought you guys would want to check it out." We got on some decent attire, and I got my swords, and we went after whoever was around the base. We found the guy, who happened to be Mr. Chin, and literally scared the crap out of him, with Dark Rider pointing his gun right at him. Chin told us "Please don't hurt me, Mr. Chiang just wanted to see you guys at the hotel."
We took Dark Rider's Super Van to the hotel to meet Mr. Chiang. He greeted us, asked us if we wanted to try the teas yet, but we told him we were still deciding and then he asked us why we didn't trust him. Why we had one of our friend's spying on him. We made up some really bad B.S. story, and pointed out the fact that our friend (Shroud) wasn't even with us now, and was currently in Tibet with the Dragon Talisman. I noticed he got a little uneasy with the mention of the Dragon Talisman in Tibet, and then he quickly ushered us out of the hotel...
We went back to the base and were about to go to Baltimore to pick up Shroud when Dark Rider refused to pick him up. I must have missed went on between the two, but it sure seemed like DR was not happy with Shroud. So I drove the Hippy-mobile along with Tsunami all the way to Baltimore to pick up Shroud and Gollock. I found the airport, and it looked like Gollock was heavily bandaged up, but otherwise the two seemed fine. Shroud tells us that on the way back on the cargo plane, they rode with a doctor who strangely resembled Nighthawk, but he hasn't seen him since he got off the plane.
We were driving back to N.Y.C., when Shroud says he can feel his staff is within a few miles. I pulled over to the curb and we were all contemplating where it might be within a few miles, when two police cars go racing past us. We decided to check it out, so I slammed on the pedal, and we took off after them. We followed the police to find the end of a fight. We hopped out, and the police, having heard of us had no problem letting us search out the place. I was looking around at the slain bodies on both sides. At first glance it seems like the Chinese underworld just tried to highjack a moving truck. But after a policeman pointed out a shuriken in on of the mover's hands we all quickly searched through the moving truck and found one broken crate, and five others, all empty except one which held Shroud's rune staff. Together we were able to figure out that the movers were Nighthawk's men and that the other crate held the Dragon Talisman which was stolen by either the Chinese Underground (from restaurant), or Mr. Chiang (weird reaction at the mentioning of the talisman).
With no idea where to go from here, we all just returned to the base. I quick went over and gassed up the Hippy-mobile and quick headed to Chinatown to find some sheath's for the Katana's that I have now, and also to find a pocket tape recorder. When I got back everybody was just kinda doing their own thing when the Dark Rider's phone rang.
War makes strange bedfellow's (-probably screwed up the quote, ah well)
Dark Rider told me and the other's that something was up at his uncle's car place. We headed over to the car repair shop and went into his uncle's office, to find Nighthawk standing there with a few of his friends. Strangely, his weapons were all on the table. "We have a mutual cause now my friends, lay down your weapons and let's talk" (We did) "My ningas have lost the Dragon Talisman to a man by the name of Mr. Chiang. They were jumped and had no chance. I offer you the chance to get back the talisman, if you accept we can talk more about it back at one of my "abandoned" warehouses. We all accepted and followed him there.
At the "abandoned" warehouse we let Nighthawk know of our previous encounters with Mr. Chiang. The deal he laid out for us was that we could have the talisman, if he could be the one to kill Mr. Chiang. (Cus now it's personal :) We accepted and decided that we'd meet with Mr. Chiang in Central Park at 6 p.m. tomorrow by the fountain, and that Nighthawk and his friends would be disguised as tourists and jump on the scene, and we'd win before Chiang knew what hit him. We then left Nighthawk (got Nighthawk's phone #) to go back to our base.
I called Chin (we didn't have Chaing's #) to set it up. I told him that we were interested in his teas once again. He told me that was great and that we could pick them up tomorrow at the house, but then I told him that we wanted to get the teas somewhere public, just so we'd know that it was all legal... say Central Park at 6 tomorrow, he said he'd send some of his assistants to meet us, and then I told him that we wanted Mr. Chiang to be there, just so he could see that we did trust him (Maybe I should have worked on the story before I called him :) but Mr. Chin said Mr. Chiang would be happy to be there, and I said thanks and good bye.
I called Nighthawk and told him that it was all set-up, and that we needed him to have a few of his ningas go to the hotel room after Chiang leaves to grab the talisman should Chiang choose not to bring it with him. I also asked him what he'd be wearing so we could identify him. He said he be wearing a "I Love N.Y" shirt, and then I said good bye to him.
Central Park
I went to bed after that, and when I woke up the next day, I just screwed around in Chinatown for a good long time, and then around 5:30 I came back, and we all headed to Central Park in the Super Van. We parked it, and walked to the fountain where we waited for what seemed like forever, until Chaing, Mr. Chin, The Protector, and a goon showed up with the teas. I saw Nighthawk with his "family" making an advance, and we just stalled Chiang until Nighthawk revealed who he was, and went after Chiang. People joined in the little battle, and I lost track of who was doing what, but I did manage to defeat the goon, and got him unconscious on the ground. Before I knew it, Chiang turned into a mist and started to float away, and the Protector, and Mr. Chin were also unconscious.
Shroud used his magic of sorts to make a force field around the mist so Chiang couldn't move. He returned to human form, and Gollock suggested that we make Mr. Chiang drink the tea. So Tsunami made it so Chiang couldn't move with his powers, and Nighthawk poured the tea in to Chiang's mouth. Just after Chiang drank the potion the Protector seemed to snap out of a trance. We ended up letting Mr. Chin and Mr. Chiang go, after all, we didn't have any real evidence that we could prove. One of Nighthawk's ningas came running up and handed us the Talisman, telling us he had to go through 3 bodyguards to get to it. We thanked him, and I asked Nighthawk to join us in crime fighting. He declined because he say's he still owes us one for braking the subliminal message machine. So we left him, but I'm sure we'll be hearing from him one way or another soon... maybe to soon.
Gollock
We all got back to the base, and Gollock found another flight to Tibet, this time Tsunami, Shroud, and Dark Rider were going to go with him. I wanted to check out Chinatown some more. So the next day they all left for Tibet, and I haven't heard from them since.......
