Spirit Dancer
According to a book of the histories..........
"The Spirit's of a thousand dead make the wielder a thousand times more powerful" or so it is said. The sword is believed to be a creation by Relcon Drake himself.
Back long before the Elf / Dwarf war took place, there was a smaller uprising starting within the Land of the Damned. Relcon Drake, a witch / necromancer / wizard had been uniting small bands of creatures together within the land. His power was growing, but no doubt, not without problems of it's own. He had trouble controlling his newfound minions, for they knew that even with all his power, they could still overthrow him if they ever wished, but for that period of time they were happy because they were just a bit safer, because not to many dared to mess with the might of Relcon, much more the might of his united tribes.
Relcon then started making demands of the tribes that they help construct a castle in his honor, and other things he needed done. General upheaval quickly and quietly sent through the ranks of the tribes. They wished only for his protection, not to have to pay him anything in return. He had gone to far, and they wished to be rid of him, and back to their old style of life, before building useless castles. All the creatures gathered up their shamans and men of magic, and they in turn began their studies on something that Relcon would never expect, a spirit assassin.
The men of magic were working for weeks, even month's trying to lock down the correct spell. In the meantime, however, Relcon's castle was being built and not a word was slipped to him about his impending doom. Relcon then had a dream one night, sent by the Lord of the Dead himself. In his dream he saw his men uprising against him, yet not with weapons drawn, and they were all almost transparent in the dream. It was a message he figured, and he had an idea as to how to solve it's riddle, before he ended up dead.
Relcon turned immediately to make blade that would not only cut through flesh, but also through the spirit. He studied all he could find and tracked down a dwarf by the name of Gwan Oaks. Gwan was the unknown to most of the Palladium world, and had his own workshop / blacksmith somewhere within the Northern Mountains. Gwan was an outcast from the rest of the Dwarven population, and usually only dealt with Kobolds, well, only the Kobolds who were brave enough to touch his weapons.
Relcon asked Gwan to help him, and Gwan was so intrigued by the idea that he said he'd do it for free. He already had all the money he could every want in his vault from previous sales. Together Relcon through casting spells, and Gwan casting his own magic along with his ability of making the sword, they completed the sword. Relcon named it Spirit Dancer. Relcon offered the sword the Lord of the Dead, and through the offer the Lord of the Dead put one fail safe on it that he never told Relcon about. Because the sword catches the souls and spirits of it's victim's, it's denying the right of the Lord to determine their fate. After the wielder has held the sword for a period of time (normally years) the Lord will be able to claim the life or spirit of the wielder no matter the power,or precautions that the wielder of the sword takes. The wielder will then be eternally used by the the Lord to do his bidding.
Relcon returned to his quarter built castle and rested easier, knowing that he now had a sword to protect him from the spirits. Sure enough, one night, while Relcon lay asleep with a sword at his side, the sword beamed bright red waking Relcon. Relcon jumped to his feet, and an ethereal beast started to mock Relcon because he would soon be dead. Relcon took the blade, and slashed it through the beast, tearing it apart.
The next morning he gathered the leaders of the tribes and had them executed. The tribes now under the complete control of Relcon, continued to build his castle. Relcon, every so often would visit each tribe, and watched over production of the castle. Then he just stopped showing up one day, and the work continued. That day soon lead to a week and more, and then the tribes finally just quit working on the castle. It was if Relcon just disappeared from the face of the earth much to the happiness of the tribes.
Today, Castle Drake lies unfinished with-in the Land of the Damned, and no one is quite sure of the where abouts of this legendary sword - Spirit Dancer.
