It is indicated by Zahi Hawass in Al-Ahram Weekly (URL)
that in the unfinished obelisk quarry of Aswan,
there is an ancient harbour used to load on boats the monumental pieces
of granite to transport them to their final
location in Egypt. I have made two pictures of this harbour scene. The second
detail picture is to be situated to the background
and at the left of the group of people in picture 1; the man in front (in khaki clothes) is M.
Adel Kelany, the excavation's team leader.
