QUÉBEC, AN INTRODUCTION
In my games, the
central city is Québec city, the capital of the country of the same
name. Why such a choice? Because it's where we live (yes I'm a Quebecer)
and so I know what there is and where. But, as anybody having read something
like the neo-anarchist guide to north-america will tell you, isn't Québec
a city (a country even) full of racists, who don't accept to have
even a tiny bit of english in their country and who are so behind in technology
that everything hi-tech costs four time the normal price? Well, I don't
care.
Because Fasa considers us like morons, we Quebecers,
(at least in Shadowrun) they have decided to make a setting that fits with
morons and then to completely ignore it (when was the last time you've
heard of something important happening in Québec?). So because they
ignore us, changing this doesn't make a difference. So don't listen listen
to everything you've heard, it's lies. Québec kicks ass and you
will see it here first, from somebody who actually knows what he's talking
about.
Of course, I don't consider that everybody will want
to play in Québec, but this could give you ideas on how to design
your own setting (and it gives me the incentive to write something about
Québec). Maybe, just maybe, some people will like my ideas and play
in it and that would be great (here's an incentive: for what other setting
can you just e-mail the creator of it and receive answers about your questions?).
I should add on a semi-regular basis stuff to complete the setting, so
stay tuned, because it will be a continually evolving setting.
What is there in Québec? Gangs, Winternight,
the Ordo Maximus, Renraku, Shiawase, Saeder-Krupp, a destroyed city (!),
the humanis policlub, the sons of Sauron, just to name a few. And if you
play in Québec, and your team does something important, that has
an impact on the city as a whole, just e-mail me, and if its good enough
I'll add to my setting as one of the important recent happenings (but don't
be ridiculous, I won't destroy some important part of this for the fun
of it...).
so stay tuned, the show starts soon
