RUN ARCHETYPES
Here are a bunch of "frames" fo adventures. These aren't runs, they are
the basics for many run ideas, in the same way archetypes are the basics
on which you build a character. You can easilly combine multiple ideas
in this list or do the opposite of these runs -- make the runners try to
stop others from doing these, and of course you can create your own run
archetypes.
Assassination
The runners are hired to assassinate somebody. Variations from run to run
can be: the location, importance and role of the person, the level of defences,
the target might move from where he's supposed to be or the runners might
not know where that person is.
Recovery
The runners are sent to get something and bring it back to someone. Variations
can affect: the nature of what is to be found (an awakened critter, secret
plans of a new piece of cyberware, etc.), where it can be found,
wheter or not the runners clearly know exactly what is to be found (a computer
chip numbered XZ74839 or proof of an assassination attempt), kidnapping,
having to keep the said 'something' for a while, etc.
Delivery
The runners must bring something to something/somewhere. The difference
here with the 'Recovery' archetype is that the runners get the object at
the start and the run is actually about the difficulty of bringing the
object to a place. Variations include: what is to be brought, where it
is brought and how it is brought. This archetype of run is good to make
a rigger participate more in the action of the run (usually, these runs
involve driving a certain type of vehicle).
Demolition
The Johnson hires the runners to destruct something. Variations affect
the nature of what is to be destroyed (buliding, object, etc.) and where
that thing is located. This is great if one of your players have taken
the "demolition" skill but didn't quite use it yet...
Body Guard
The characters are supposed to protect some important people from anny
danger. Variations include the nature of the danger, of the person to protect
and where the protection happens.
Reconnaissance
The runners are not hired to make an actual run but to rather do the groundwork
for another run others will do. Variations depend on what kind of runs
they are preparing and what they are supposed to do (map the place, create
a diversion, etc.) Of course, the runners might not know what they are
doing is only ground-work for another team... |
