Personally I don't have a legal background, nor do I really even care, but as NightShade is becoming more widely known and viewed, I felt it was necessary to clarify some issues regarding this site, and myself. Bear with me...
Copyright
As for the content on NightShade: if my name's not attached to it, I obviously got it from somewhere else. (such as the codes, midis, game images, etc...more about that later on.) A lot of the site graphics are my original artwork, but I really have no problem if other people want to use them. (hey, it's cyberspace, babe, the new frontier...the boundaries don't really exist yet, don't sweat it...)
Codes, midis, game images...stuff I didn't create.
Do I ever worry about being sued? ...Frankly, yes! I don't really know on what grounds, but I'm sure some money-grubbing lawyer representing someone somewhere, would love to sink their bloodstained claws into me. But, being a happy anarchist, I believe in something more fundamental: INFORMATION WAS MEANT TO BE SHARED! Hey, I pay my subscription fees for the mags that provide the codes, I pay for my space here at GeoCities, I pay my internet provider for allowing me to view the web, and I own the equipment used to view it. I don't receive any profit for NightShade, I just do it because I think everyone has a right to find information on any subject, when they want it.
Peace,
Ok, first off, I know it says NightShade is copyrighted. Well, it isn't, not yet at least...I just thought it would look kinda cool to add that, makes me feel like NightShade's more than just my hobby. :) I will be securing a copyright when I get around to it, just so someone won't come along and say I stole the name "NightShade" and the site design, cause I didn't, I thunk it up all by my wittle self...
That much I agree on as far as legal stuff is concerned.
I post whatever I find on the web in various sites, and if there's a name attached to it, I include it. Simple enough? I do take the time to type up most of the codes and strategy guides, however, and the brunt of them come from the gaming magazines I subscribe to. The greatest majority of the game codes comes from Tips & Tricks magazine. As a service to them, if you'd like to subscribe to their excellent publication, you can do so at:
