back to Sub-Rosa
Ever have one of those days? Well, I certainly have. But I find that my own stupidity cracks me up, so I thought I'd share my experiences with you.
2nd February, 1998
It was twilight, and the laundry was still hanging out on the line, so I thought I'd bring it in... We have this tree that overhangs the walkway, and one branch in particular hangs a little low, so that you have to duck to avoid beaning yourself if you're over 5'6" (I'm 5'8" unfortunately...).
Well, I'm not exactly sure what I was thinking about, but I was definitely daydreaming when I went out to collect the laundry. I piled it all up on my left arm - a really good size bundle (cause I didn't want to make two trips...) and with my heavy burden, I started back to the house at a jaunty pace (I was cooking din-din at the time as well, and didn't want to let it burn.)
La, la, la... All of a sudden...WHAM!!! I hit that damn branch straight on! Since the laundry was so heavy, I tipped right over onto the grass, stunned! For a second, I couldn't figure out what had just happened, but I caught on pretty quick (with this terrible ringing in my ears...funny how you see a flash of light when ya knock your head off...) I was kinda caught by the heavy load of laundry (and I'd also landed on a pile of raked leaves, so there were leaves all in the laundry...), and the only thing I could think of to say (outloud of course, I always talk to myself) was: "Hmmmm. Well, that ain't good..."
You ever see a horse try to get up? Well, that's what it must have looked like, cause, for some stupid reason in my stunned state, I wouldn't let go of the laundry in order to get to my feet...but I managed it, and went inside the house.(still very dazed...)
Yes...it wasn't until about 10 minutes later that I started cracking up about the incident. A video camera would have been priceless at that moment. Frankly I would have loved to have seen it!
...And yes, my head still hurts... :)
11th February 98
Well, I was looking through The Lady's Chamber just for the heck of it, and noticed that the name .gif for my Vision's section was like, totally stretched out! Now, I did change a lot of things to incorporate image maps for the smaller menus, but I knew I had redone that particular image so that the page would look approximately the same. But this just wasn't right!! I kept looking at it, and looking at it, but my brain didn't make sense of what I was seeing...why da heck did that word "visions" look all totally stretched out?? I musta spent about a half hour going back and forth between my directory, and my .gif files in both geocities, and on my pc hard drive, until it finally hit me..."Hey, dummy - you forgot to upload the new graphic to take the place of the other one!" So I did, and now it finally looks right. DUH!!!
