Virtua Fighter 3tb is the upgrade that AM2 gave to Virtua Fighter 3. The Katana version of Virtua Fighter 3 is expected to feature both the original and team batle mode versions.
Advertisment Screen
The advertisment screen has been changed. You'll see a lot of
combos and the one to watch out for is Kage's Yaiba. Yes, the one
every Kage player hopes to achieve in their lifetime.
View Changes
Against the CPU, you can change the view using the start button.
The view will change from normal, to character's view, to behind
view, to bird's eye view.
Stage Changes
All the stages seem to be arranged. Jacky and Sarah stage has
been made bigger (1.69x), thus Wolf can no longer RO in one go.
Slow Replays
Remember in VF2 how you could do a slow replay once per match?
Well you can do it again in VF3tb, but this time you can skip it
by holding start.
Input Command List
When playing against CPU you used to be able to display your
input, but you could not do it against non-CPU's. Well now you
can, but both players must input the command for it to work.
Counter-throws
All counter throws have been removed.
Escaping A Throw
When escaping a throw it is sometimes possible to side throw or
even back throw the opponent (i.e. Wolf's normal and SSD, Jacky's
Sadistic Hanging Knee). Well that will no longer work. So Akira's
3P+G->escape ->3P+G ->escape, etc will not work. Another
major change is the ability to escape a wall throw. (i.e. Akira's
wall 3P+G is escapable)
Homing System
Some slow-occuring moves, like Jeffrey's Kenka Kick and Akira's
3P+K, usually habe a homing system that will hit you if you
escape to early. This system has been removed and slow-occuring
moves are now much easier to escape.
Down Throw
When doing Aoi's 26P+G ->3P+G down throw, the character
magically changes position (a bug). Well this no longer occurs
and Aoi will do the normal down throw. So what's the difference?
Aoi and the opponent's position in the stage will change.
Ura-mawari
This technique is only used in some areas of the world. This is a
technique where you jump over the opponent when they are on the
ground and make them kick the wrong way, seen mostly amongst Pai
with the 9K. Well now it's much harder to jump over or to be
precise, to do the ura-mawari move.
Wake-up Down Kick
When you wake-up down kick, the freezing time has been extended.
Thus it is easier to stumble the opponent and Lau's elbow will
actually hit.
Akira
* New move (64P+G). This throw will not cause any damage, but
cause the opponent to stumble, much like the 4P+G.
* After the 4P+G to Utankyaku move, the opponent can recover more
quickly. However, the utankyaku, if timed perfectly, seems to be
unescapable.
* The Mouko Kouhazan (hold 26P) and Tetuzankou (466P+K) moves
will cause damage if they hit a crouching opponent.
* The Yakuho Chochu (666P) move seems to cause more damage then
in the normal VF3.
* The old AS's second hit (the 43P+K) is escapable via 4P+G.
* The New AS's third hit has a fixed damage of 30.
* No Tetuzan-throw is possible. In the middle of a Tetuzankou,
you could throw Akira, but it is impossibe now.
Jacky
* Opponent falls after Elbow-spinkick
* No matter ehat the situation, the Combo Elbow will not connect
fully.
* Double-low kick will not hit as a combo if normally hit.
* The two down attacks (8P and 28P) have a range of 2.5m.
* The elbow will come out after 66P with increasing range.
Sarah
* Opponent falls after Double Joint Butt.
* Double-low kick will not hit as a combo if hit normally.
* The two Down attacks (8P and 28P) only have a range of 2.5m.
* A lot of middle hit moves have had their freezing time
increased, so down attacks are harder to hit.
* The Turn Spin Kick will not go through the opponent , but it
will stop other spin-moves.
* You will not fall immediately after being hit during a
summersault
Kage
* The 66P+K+G will no longer go through the opponent, so it is
easier to RO.
* The down kick has a larger hitting range and is lower. It will
be easier to hit the opponent, but it will miss more frequently.
* The 4P+G ->8P+G move against Taka has been changed to a heel
drop rather than a double knee drop.
Wolf
* The knee and short shoulder moves have an extended freezing
time. They can be countered by most elbow moves.
* You cannot pick up the opponent after a Giant Swing.
* If you are hit by the Axe Lariat while standing, the damage is
halved.
* If the opponent gets hit by an Elbow-pad (4P), you can go for a
small combo, like low-dropkick or knee.
Jeffrey
* A new move has been added, 466P+K, which is a slow punch that
seems to be a middle hit.
* If you hit a Knee Push to an opponent in the air they will
re-float, thus an ari-combo is easier to do. However, the Kenka
Upper will float the opponent.
* After the Splash Mountain you can directly pick up the
opponent, so you don't have to go back a bit.
Pai
* If you miss the Unshu (6P+K) move the freezing frame changes
from 12 to 30!!! Also, the move can be thrown.
Lau
* The Jisoutai move is weaker since it is slowler and the
freezing time is longer if blocked.
Lion
* New Move, PPP+E, is the same one that Dural has.
* The 9E can no longer be canceled.
Shun
* It's easier to do the 236P
* You can now see how many times you have taken a drink. This
will change according to how many sets the machine is set to
play. If is starts with 3 sets, then you start off with 2 drinks,
if the machine is a 2 set game, then you start off with 5 drinks.
* The moves where you fall down can be hit while you're falling
down.
Aoi
* The down throw has been changed as explained in the System
section.
* The PP6PP's last punch can only work if the punch button is
pressed. Where as in VF3, it could come out with any button.
* The down punch has had it's graphics changed. The left arm will
come out if the left leg is out.
Taka
* Taka now has a Jumping Down attack.
* Taka will fall after moves more easily, thus most moves that
were a combo against Taka are no longer a combo.
* The Shikogeri move has been weakened.
Dural
* Dural will become transparent when her life gauge decreases.
