Entering GSA Codes
Correctly This topic will explain the process of entering the GameShark codes we provide on this site. This includes the code format and how to enter a code using the GameShark and the GameShark software. 1 - Code Format
(This code example is from the game Doom.) GameShark codes are typically entered in XXXXXXXX YYYYYYYY format, where the X's and Y's have their own lines. So this is how the Infinite Rockets code above would look:
The hyphen we use on this site indicates the line break used in the standard GameShark format. We've entered our codes this way to keep each code to one line. 2 - Adding Codes Via GameShark First, start up your GameShark. When the main menu appears, select Management, then Add/Edit Codes. If the game you want doesn't exist yet, you'll need to create it using Add/Edit Games first. Find the game you want to add the code to (in this example it's Doom), then select Add New Code at the top of the list. Use the keyboard to create a name for the code, and hit Done. Now it's time to type in the code. Using the special keyboard provided, add the portion of the code on the left side of the hyphen (F123FA07) first. When the cursor moves to the second line, add the second portion (FE1E26B4). Your code will look exactly as it does in the second example of Part 1. Hit Done. That's it! Your code has been added. If you made a mistake, you can always go back to Add/Edit Codes and make modifications to the code you entered. If multiple lines of code need to be entered, just repeat the steps followed here for each line of code you need to add. 3 - Adding Codes Via GS Software On the tab strip at the bottom of the window, select the GameShark button. The software will read in the contents of your GameShark and then you will be able to continue. Select the game you want, and then select Manual Entry from the Actions panel. Type in a name for your new code, and then type in the first portion of the code (on the left side of the hyphen). Click Add Code, and then type in the second portion of the code. Repeat as needed for any additional lines of code. When you're finished, click OK. You may need to wait again as the software updates your GameShark. See? That was much easier. It's especially helpful to have the software if you're entering a long code or many codes at once, as it can be done quickly. However, plugging in the GBA to your computer can be very time-consuming if you don't know what you're doing, so it's best not to use the software if you only need to enter one code. Questions?
