Fleer provided wonderful prizes, giving two holo heroes for first, one holo hero for second, a set of Onslaught heroes and Mission cards for third and a set of DC Any Heroes for Fourth. All the participants received the JLA Any Hero, and I gave out four action figures, three original Any Heroes and a Barbie outfit as additional prizes for the kids.
Six year old Megan Marotta finished fifth overall and first in the women's division winning a Poison Ivy and Robin action figure set and a Marine Biologist Barbie outfit with parent and child sea turtle. She has consistantly finished fourth or fifth, beating all the other youngesters (except her brother Brendon) and occasionally even beating one of the adults. Ian Hambrick and Danny O'Cline also finished fifth along with first time tournament player nine year old Mark Bonbrest.
Ten year old Michael Marotta from Charlottesville, and adult Robert from Blacksburg were also playing in their first tournament.
The tournament was a Monumental sealed deck tournament (starter deck plus two boosters), and included 14 players, three of which this was their first tournament. Four adults came from Blacksburg, two from the D.C. area and 6 were local young people. Additionally, two young who just moved to Charlottesville came half way through to watch. They moved from Georgia where they played OverPower with one of their friends and plan to play in the next tournament.
