I had my last tournament here in Columbus for this season.  A few highly ranked players were there (Myles Head, Phil Miller, Brian Hildreth, Gary Martin, JR and myself) and a couple highly thought of players made their first Columbus appearence (Chris Vezina and Scott Flint).  In the first round, I had to play my nephew, Josiah Simms.  Talk about bad draws.  His deck of X-Men:Original Team, Scarlet Witch, X-Man and Prof X in reserve didn't play made but it didn't win, either.  Next up for me was Scott.  I always enjoy playing Scott although he has won more games against me than I have against him.  Dupes killed him right from the start.  He lasted four hands.  Next up was AJ Kitzmiller, a locale player who's deck I know better than he does.  He was playing Beyounder, Blob, Beast the Brute and the old Morbius in reserve.  He actually knocked out Beyounder in the second hand but things went down hill fast for him after that.  I was now 3-0 and had to play Brian Hildreth.  He had Heros For Hire, Reavers, Spider-Girl and the old Spider-Woman in reserve.  This was the closest game all day for me.  He had Heros left and I had the old Magneto.  I ventured six for the game and managed to get a level six any power to land.  He then threw a four multi that knocked out Magneto!  But I had ventured for the game and my six beat his four.  I won venture and the game!  Now we moved into single elimination.  My first game was against my brother, Darin.  He was playing H4H, Hulk, Beast the Brute and Spider-Woman in reserve.  It was over for him early.  Next up was Chris Vezina.  I have only beaten Chris, maybe, three times in my life and never in a tournament.  It came down to his X-Babies against my Beyounder.  Guess who won? ;)  Now for the game I had been waiting all day for.  A championship game against Myles.  It was close the whole game.  I drew my last six cards from my draw pile and then two cards from my reshuffled power pack.  He had seven left in his draw pile.  I was down to Beyounder, he had Beyounder and Xaos.  I had no hits on my permenent record, his Beyounder had a multi and a fighting icon totaling seven points on his record.  I picked up my cards and saw the prettest card in the world.  White Quenn's JW.  I also had a six, seven and eight power card and two activator's.  He kept seven cards.  I knew the end had come.  I ventures six for the game.  He kept one of the additional draw cards.  I played the JW on his Beyounder.  "That's gonna hurt" was all he could say.  He defended it and I threw a seven energy on Beyounder for the kill.  He had a level seven energy placed on Xaos!  I was able to save my level eight and still knock out his Beyounder!  He had unplayable cards in his hand now from the X-Babies and Scarlet Witch and before the hand was over, I knocked out Xaos also.
It was my second time winning a tournament and my first undefeated!  I can't wait for the ratings to go up for this one!
After the tournament Brian, Gary, Mike (The Anvil) Guillermin, AJ and myself all went to see The Mummy.  I'm not a movie goer but I went because they all seemed very excited about seeing it.  It was a great movie!  I would highly recommend seeing it.  It was funny and the action was non-stop.  We laughed all the way through the movie.  End of review.
