European Weaves

European 4 in 1

Easy

European 4 in 1, also known as standard maille. This is the most common type of maille, used for everything from shirts to coifs to dicebacgs.

European 6 in 1

Easy

A slightly tighter variant of 4 in 1, makes the maille bulkier.

European 8 in 1

Medium

Even tighter than 6 in 1, a very strong but very heavy design. Rated medium for its density.

Kingsmaille

Easy

European 8 in 2, also known as Kingsmaille. The same as 4 in 1, except with two rings instead of one.

Gridlock

Easy

Also called Corduroy. Similar to 4 in 1, but woven differently

Snake Skin

Medium

Snakeskin is a variant of 4 in 1. Rated medium for the use of two different ring sizes

Box Chain

Easy

Four rows of Euro 4 in 1 rolled into a square to make a rope.

Byzantine

Medium

Byzantine is a variant of box chain, where every other "box" is reversed. The number of connecting rings between boxes vary. This chain is beautiful in jewelry.

Roundmaille

Easy

Roundmaille is six rows of Euro 4 in 1 rolled into a tube. Tends to fall flat with larger rings, but puffs up when you tug on the ends.

Dragonscale

Hard

Dragonscale is two interwoven sheets of Euro 4 in 1 with different-sized rings. Slow to make, but very beautiful.
