Opie36 - In his younger, wilder days ;);) Specialty, and boy is she special :-)))

There were 24 teams vying to be the winner of the Friday Night Partners' tourney - and the winners are - specialty & Opie36! It was a close win against the team of EUCHem and travelman, but specialty & Opie pulled ahead and won it all! Specialty has hazel eyes and was born in Ohio, where she still resides. She is 44 years young and is married. She has a lot of men in her family (three sons/25, 24, & 19; and two grandsons 4 & 5). She is retired (hubby retired her - said it's a full time job taking care of him) and she loves it. Opie has blue eyes and was born (and still lives) in Iowa. He's 38 years "old" and is married, as well. He has one daughter who's 14 going on 21. Does that mean you allow her to date, Opie? He is an auto parts manager and enjoys his work. Specialty enjoys playing euchre and surfing the net. Opie likes watching Jerry Springer while he plays in the tourney and he also enjoys coaching his daughter's softball and basketball teams. Opie's favorite movie is "Caddyshack;" favorite TV show is "Andy Griffith" (what else!); one of his favorite songs is "Riding The Storm Out" by REO Speedwagon; favorite color is red; and favorite drink is Budweiser. Specialty's favorite movie is "In & Out;" favorite TV show is "ER;" one of her favorite songs is "Que Sera Sera" by Doris Day; favorite color is lavender; and favorite drink is ice water. Specialty informs us that her husband choose her nickname ... thinks she's very special. (OK - everyone say "awwwwwwwwwww"). Opie chose his because he looks like the Opie from the Andy Griffith show. They've both used their nicknames for a long time. They are regular partners and have been for about a year. Specialty has been playing euchre for about 15 years, while Opie has been playing for about 20. Specialty tells us she has a home page - but doesn't remember the address. If we find it - we'll let you all know what it is. Opie tells us they won tonight because they were HOT! Specialty says, yes, that's true, but also that the games went fast -- she does better in fast games because she doesn't have to think. Specialty says, "Don't be afraid to get euchred ... and if you do get euchred ... get back on that horse." She also says that Opie tells her *chit happens* when she euchres them so she won't feel bad. Isn't Opie sweet? (Do we get an "awwwwwww" for him, too?) CONGRATS YOU TWO - YOU DID GOOD :)

Since we know how crazy this time of year is for everyone, the next tournament will be AFTER the holidays on January 8th. 1999. This will also be our one year anniversary tourney and our last tourney as hostesses and hosts. But don't worry . . . Lynn10 has agreed to take over for us and we're sure the transition will be an easy and painless one. We know she'll do a GREAT job. If anyone is willing to volunteer some time to help her, please let her know (or you could tell us and we'll pass along the information to her). We're hoping to make this anniversary tourney a special one so we hope you'll try to be there!! ;)))

We want to take this time to thank everyone for attending the tourneys . . . y'all are the BEST bunch of card players and you've really filled this last year with lots of laughter and happiness for us!! Since this is the time of year to count one's blessings, we just wanted y'all to know that when we count ours, we include each and everyone of you!!! We hope you have the happiest of holidays and a great new year!!! Take care and we'll see you next year!!
