1.) PURPOSE & GOAL: Have fun and try to make it fun for everyone else too :) Remember, winning is good BUT losing graciously is a FINE art and if done right, can be just as much fun!!! ;) |
2.)1ST SIGNUP/1ST BYE: Either member of a team can sign up for both partners but be sure to send in ONLY ONE entry per team, please!!! (See rule #3 about signing up and hosting and score reporting duties.) Information required includes the screen names each of you will be playing under and email addresses for both of you. Entries will be taken at this webpage until 8:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time prior to the start of the tournament. Signups will also be taken on ICQ #5754457. (you will get a confirmation that we've received your ICQ signup!!) Singles and late entries will be taken in Special Events from 8:45-9:00 p.m. prior to each tournament. We will try to pair singles to make teams so you don’t need a partner to sign up. Late arrivals signing up at the special events room will be taken only on a space-available basis. In order to end up with one winner and an even number of tables, some people may get a "bye" in the first round of the tournament. If a "bye" must be given, it will go to the team who signed up 1st from the WEBSITE. Signups on ICQ or in Special Events will not be considered for the "bye" rule. The "1ST SIGNUP/1ST BYE" RULE WILL BE USED FROM THE WEBSITE SIGNUPS ONLY!!!! SO SIGN UP EARLY!! :) |
3.) The partners' tournament
will be held every Friday night at 9:00 pm Eastern Time (6:00 pm Pacific
time . . . for those of you time zone challenged . . . LOL). If you are late it's possible that you will not be able to play, so PLEASE don't be
late!!! The tournament will be held in the Euchre Special Events Room. SIGNING UP TO PLAY ~~ There are three ways you can signup for the tournament: Option #1) Go to the "signup" page on this website. Option #2) ICQ us at #5754457. When your signup is received you will get a confirmation ICQ message. If you don't get a reply, we probably didn't receive your signup, so use option #3. Option #3) We will take signups in the Special Events Room from 8:45 pm until 9:00 pm. ONLY. DON'T HAVE A PARTNER? ~~ No Problem! We will make every effort to assign you a partner. If you are a single player, the same signup options apply to you :) We do ask one thing.. if you find a partner before the 9:00 pm signup deadline, please let us know so that we can assign seats accordingly. If you do not inform us prior to the deadline, we have the option of assigning you a partner of our choice. We do our best to assign singles, so we ask that you show us consideration by keeping us informed as early as possible :) If a player has a partner or makes changes "at the last minute" it delays the tournament for everyone, therefore, it is the decision of the tournament host to alter table assignments, if necessary. HOSTING A TABLE & REPORTING SCORES: We will begin seating people as close as possible to 9:00 pm eastern. The first name called when we assign tables will host that table...AND BE THE ONE TO REPORT SCORES. If you DON'T want to host and report, then be sure your partner signs up for your team....the "signer-upper" is the first name for that team. If a particular team has a lag problem, the other team's "signer-upper" can take over the hosting and reporting scores for that game...just be sure we notice...unless you love sitting around waiting for your next game. Once the four assigned people are seated at your table, let the game begin. At this time please do NOT have it count as a ladder match. At the end of the game, the host announces in CAPITAL LETTERS your final score to the lobby (indicating which team won) and you wait for your next match. Please be patient . . . it may take a few minutes for the other games to finish. Imagenie will keep you entertained in the lobby while you're waiting . . . that's her job!!! LOL |
4.)CONSOLATION TOURNAMENT: This will be a single elimination tournament. Those eliminated in the first round will play a consolation tournament so PLEASE DON'T LEAVE if you lose the FIRST game. The consolation tournament is also single elimination. Winners from each round will be assigned to the next round. Winners of the last round of each tournament will be declared the winner and enjoy the fame and fortune that brings. ;) Each Friday night is a separate tournament . . . it's not a cummulative type points tournament. |
5.)DISPUTES: Each round will consist of one game. Play will consist of standard Games People Play euchre rules. If there are any disputes, please try to work it out among yourselves at the table....majority rules. If that is impossible, then the decisions of the tournament runners are final. |
6.)LOSING CONNECTION: If for whatever reason someone loses their connection please allow the person 10 minutes to return. If the person is still not back at that time a bot will continue for that player. If the person returns after 10 minutes let's just be nice and reseat that player. At the point of crash, play continues back to the table host. Then play waits for crashed player who is then seated before play continues. If the host is the crasher, and the game for any reason was not saved, start a new table but manually keep score, continuing the score from the last completed point until one team has 10 or more points . . . winning the game. If the person who crashed never returns, and their team wins, the remaining partner has a choice finding a sub, continuing to play with a bot, or resigning from the tournament AFTER informing the hosts of your choice. |
7.)RULES OF CONDUCT: If you cheat, you're already a BIG loser! This tournament is not really about winning it's about having fun!!! Everyone is on the honor system. Also cheating accusations will not be tolerated! Let's face it, people do NOT admit to cheating . . . if they did, they wouldn't be cheating in the first place!!! The only things that comes out of cheating accusations are fights. It's almost IMPOSSIBLE to PROVE that someone is cheating. You may suspect they are cheating and you might be right BUT what can we do about it? Do we tell a player "well, there are some people that suspect you are cheating. We have no proof but too bad...you're out of here."? If we did that then anyone could accuse YOU of cheating. See the problem? Sometimes people also carelessly hurl those words out there because they are angry for losing a game. That's not fair nor is it right. To tarnish a player's reputation with unproven accusations will not be tolerated. If we ask a person to stop and that person refuses he or she will be removed from the tournament. The same goes for fights and insult hurling. We know that not everyone is going to get along. That's okay. Once in awhile a couple of players will exchange insults. Usually it's nothing very harmful. We'll let a snide remark pass...sometimes it helps to alleviate the anger. We're not cops...our job is to keep the tournament running as smoothly as possible. Sometimes, however, the fight doesn't end with one remark from each player. It can escalate into a full blown war. At this point we will step in and ask those involved to please stop or to take it to a private table and duke it out there. We don't care as long as it's not done in the Special Events Room during a tournament and as long as it doesn't hold up tournament play. If it persists then we'll have to remove the offending party from the tournament. We really don't want to have to remove anyone from the tournament and will only do so when reasoning with someone simply does not work. The removed person's pard then has a choice of continuing in the tournament with a bot or resigning from the tournament. |
8.)VISITORS, ETC: Watchers at any table must be agreed upon by the entire table. Please do NOT hold up the games by chatting with all your friends and/or downloading a program at the same time your games are going on. Elimination tournaments like this one take a LONG time to finish, please don't add to the length by holding up your game. |
9.)WINNERS' INTERVIEWS: The tournament winners will be posted on our euchre tournament newsletter page. If you're a member of the winning team, we'll want to talk to you for a sec before you leave the Special Events Room, so please grab one of us before you just run off . . . and you thought you would get nothing for winning!! *Grin!* Each week, we will post a "newsletter" on the web site . . . it will include an interview with the winners, their pictures (if they'd like that), and some funny quotes from the tournament itself. We'll also poke a little fun at the first team eliminated . . . let's face it, the bottom position can be as coveted as the top!!! :) Above all else, this tournament is not really about winning . . . it's about having as much fun as possible!! Let's do just that!!! :) |
10.)ONE FINAL NOTE: Our tournament is about having fun . . . everyone relax and have a great time!!!!! Our tourney is not a democracy; we are the decision makers and our decisions are final and arbitary.*G* People who cause trouble and spoil the enjoyment of the tourney for the other players will be asked to leave and will not be able to play in future tourneys!!! See rule #1. |
