TuroGate-"The X hundredth hit will never be the same"

The players

The backdrop

    Time: January 1st 2001- May 21, 2001
    Place: Formerly www.geocities.com/appodictc now www.EdwardCapriolo.com
Plot: Many loyal Apo-Networks visitors try to earn the title of x - hundredth hit champion by becoming the deca- x -hundredth hit (that is 1000 for all you dumb asses)

Motives

Edward Capriolo : "The 1000th is all mine you. Its my site I want it."
Mike Strobel: "I am the programming champion. I am going to get that classic hit. POW MIA we still remember"
Turo: "Flufernut crumb cakes."

The past champions

As the Tomb plainly shows Mike has a stronghold on the Championship, and he means to defend it. but could his fear for losing the title have driven him into a violent refreshing attack?

And what about Edward Capriolo? Sure he says he does not want to get those classic hits, but perhaps he does not want anyone else to have them either.

And what of Bryan Turo? Is he Mr. lucky? What are the odds of someone claiming the two classic hits in a row and then the deca classic hit?

What about Marvin? Could his international site be somehow responsible for the MIA's in the Tomb like hit number 800?

What about Boris? Sure he plays it cool on the outside, but Boris does have the capability and talent to edit screen shots. Could he be a master of digital trickery?

It all came down to may 20th the hit counter was on its way I saw it at 982. And I posted the mega update. At my normal pace 2 days until a new champion was proclaimed. But that did not happen. At may 21 , just 45 minutes short of midnight I received an email from Turo. In the bold odd font everything he rights always seems to come in. mikes worse fears had come true on his own birthday of the 21st.

it's craziness, i am looking to see if there has been an update and i forget
to read what number i am so i go back and see that i am 1001, therefor i must
have been 1000.  In summary; I = "pancake master of the millenium"

Turo tried to send me a screen shot, but he does not know how. He sends me a link to my counter which reads 00000 when it comes into my mailbox. Definitely not classic

So it is decided. Turo was the champion.

But Michael Strobel P.I. went on the case. "Turo has been getting way to may hits, I think he is the refresher."

Ed: "Mike you have no proof. Sites tend to get a lot of hits near the "big" numbers"

Mike: "I know he is the refresher and I cam going to prove it."

So I send Mike to the hourly stats of my page.

Mike: "Ed there was 12 hits and 8:00...I mean that is prime time but 12 hits in one hour"

Ed: "Does it say they are unique hits?"

Mike: " There is no distinction."

Ed: " Well I do not know what to say, he probably refreshed."

Mike: " I know he did. I am going to find the truth!"

So Mike confronts Turo with the a half truth to throw him off balance.

Mike: "Ed has page stats that show that someone refreshed 12 times that hour"

Turo: ......Ok I refreshed

Conclusion: This scandal has ruined the sanctity of the x-hundredth hit system, and dishonored all the Brave souls that tried to be classic visitors one hit at a time.
