Final Fantasy VII Review

This is my personal opinion of the game. Don't kill me if you disagree about something

In my opinion, Final Fantasy VII is probably the best RPG to date. Like I said above, you might disagree, but since I'm a big Final Fantasy fan, I think this is the best. If you don't have a Playstation, I either recommend getting one for this game and Final Fantasy VIII, or, get this game for the PC. Either way, its well worth it. To start things off, I really can't decide if I like the Materia system better, or the Esper system {from Final Fantasy III} better. I kinda miss the ability to permantly learn the spells so you can equip new Espers and learn new spells. I especially miss having Osmose. I cast alot of Magic so I need something to get MP fast. But, I also like just equipping Materia and knowing the spells right off the bat. In both cases, you still have to fight a lot of battles in both systems. You do it in the Esper system to learn the spell, and you do it In the Materia system to make it grow. So the two systems are about equal in their pro's and con's. I like the new command options that you have available such as summon, morph, control, steal, etc. Okay, they aren't really new, but every character can have these abilities instead of a select few. The summon spells are very cool, but they are a bit lengthy.{But who cares!} The Enemy Skill Materia is pretty cool, but learning spells for it can be a bit dangerous if your like me and have kinda low levels in the beginning of the game. You can also put Materias in deadly combinations that will do you in quickly. I wish you didn't have to use an all Materia to cast spells on every enemy though. I think it should be like on FFIII where you just press L and you could cast it on everyone instead of wasting a Materia slot to do that. I really like the new barrier and wall spells that you can cast on your party to reduce the damage of physical and Magic attacks. The new Limit Breaks also add a new experience to the battles. All of these new things make the battles a lot more interesting, a lot funner, or if you hate random battles, a lot more tolerable. The storyline was pretty cool, but parts of it were a little confusing left you wondering. The plot could have had a little more twists in it to make it more interesting and original. But aside from those few things, this game is awesome I'd give it just about the highest rating in any system. If you have a playstation or PC, I strongly reccommend this game.
