Falling

by Evil Insomnia

"Isn't there some way we can talk this over guys?" Jathalos squirmed uneasily, trying desperately to keep from falling off the narrow plank. "Mybe you should just let me back on the ship, and we could all be friends?", Jathalos looked down. He knew it wasn't a good idea but the view was just too fantastic. From up here he could see from the Firestone mountains, all the way out to the sea of shades.
The captain of the skypirates bellowed with laughter, "You first steal my sword and then want to make friends? a skypirate needs no friends. We are the sharks on the sky, preying on the rich and foolish people below us. We are subservient to none except Liagos, lord of the winds. You stole my weapon, a pirates weapon. For that crime there is only one punishment...DEATH!"
Jathalos smiled at him self. He had counted on the captain to make a long speach like this. He had recognised him as the big-mouthed type ever since he met him in that bar in Tallistadt. He did so regret he ever offered to join them.

Ripped apart by some huge beast.

A harsh voice brought Jathalos back from his thoughts. It was the captain again.
"Now die, lowliver" The pirate stabbed at Jathalos with a cruel looking spear, Jathalos was only able to dodge the barbed tip by less than an inch on this plank. He grabbed hold of the handle and pulled. The captain was completely taken by surprize and he screamed and cursed as he tumbled over the side of the skyship.
Just as Jathalos turned his attention towards the rest fo the crew, the tip of the spear caught hold of his pants. With the pirate captain still holding on to the other end, it easily pulled Jathalos off the plank.
The velocity of the fall made Jathalos' eyes run. He tried to scream but the force of the wind drove the screams right back into his mouth. All the time the ground kept coming closer, closer, ever closer. Jathalos closed his eyes and prepared himself to finally go meet Phex.

"Wake up" a soft voice said, "Wake up, it's time to rise".
Jathalos slowly sat up and opened his eyes....
