There once was a young couple who were struggling to make ends meet. The
woman's parents warned her that marrying this man she loved so dearly would
bring her to a lifestyle she was not accustomed to, as she grew up in a very
privileged way. The man she loved had only love to offer to her, as he grew
up in one foster home after another. Neither of them, as they sat in their
little cottage listening to the light rain outside, wanted to go to her
parents for help with their money problems. Suddenly the sun came out and
they saw a beautiful rainbow outside in the distance."Look!" she exclaimed,
"There's a rainbow in the sky, do you know what that means?" she asked.
The man answered "Sure I do, it means the rain is going to stop."
She looked a little miffed."No,it means there's a pot of gold at the end of
the rainbow." The man tried to hide his amusement at the childlike qualities
he loved so much about her. He could tell she was hurt by his reaction to her
statement, she told him that this could be the solution to all their problems.
Loving her the way he did, he reluctantly agreed to go along with her on the
quest to find the elusive pot of gold.
They entered the woods and as they did they heard off in the distance a voice
that they could not make out. they continued on, getting closer to their
destination. Again they heard a distant voice, they at first thought someone
was in trouble but decided the voice didn't seem to sound panicky.
The woman shouted that she could see the end of the rainbow and there was
indeed a pot there. They began to run, they were so excited. They heard the
voice once more, this time they could make out some of the words. "eat of the
drops and you shall have what you wish for" They went up to the pot, looking
for the person who said the words they both so clearly heard, but no one was
there. The pot they were expecting to be filled with gold was instead filled
with candy like drops in every color of the rainbow. The man was not as
disappointed as his wife, she wanted the pot to be filled with riches so they
could live as comfortably as she once did.
Suddenly she remembering the words they heard, she began to eat some of the
drops. Her husband told her not to as they did not know who said the words,
he refrained from eating the one drop he had picked out of the pot.
All at once there was an Elven creature sitting on top of the pot looking
down upon them. The elf told them "These are my rainbow drops and she has
eaten of them, now she belongs to me and she will have riches beyond her
dreams!" She was on top of the pot with the elf quick as a blink! Her husband
tried to reason with the elf but to no avail. The elf again said she had
eaten the drop and now her wish for riches would come true, but only with him.
The husband did not know what to do, then suddenly he remembered the one drop
he had picked from the pot and ate it!
The elf let out a horrible scream, for he knew the man wanted nothing more
than the love of his wife.
The woman was standing next to her husband once again. The pot was gone as
was the elf. They both looked at each other but didn't say a word, not really
sure if this all really happened or not......
