Wedesnday at 9pm EST for Individual Training

Report to the QNET.KALI server on Kali.

Welcome to H.E.L.L.

Heat, Evasion, Lasers and Lag.

Here you will learn the intricacies of Class 1 combat. The only weapons that will be employed are energy weapons only. This includes a wide variety of lasers as well as PPCs and Flamers. Consider this to be the BattleTech equivelent of TOP GUN.

While you might wonder why missiles are not being used in the training course, the reason is quite simple. No weapon in the game delivers as much damage as quickly and as accurately as lasers do. A swarm of missiles can slowly peel a mech's armor plates off, but a well aimed laser burst can sever limbs, blast out a person's cockpit, and breach their torso armor.  You will be allowed to use missiles after successfully completing your training course, but while you are here, you will learn to master Class 1. It WILL save your life.

The main key to successful class 1 fighting is practice, which is exactly what this course is for. You will have elite instructors who will teach you how to merge with your mech. Evading skills, firing skills, heat management and the like will become second nature to you.

Along with these skills, you will also learn teamwork. When on a combat drop, your wing will rely on you to watch his back just as you will rely on them to watch yours. There are pilots out there who will take advantage of double teaming a pilot, while one engages, the other takes you out from behind. Unless you work as a team, you will die.

When you and your instructors are confident in your combat abilities, you will then be allowed to undergo another H.E.L.L. trial. This test is designed to be difficult in the extreme. It has been set up to test your skills thoroughly simulating actual combat situations.

There will be no shame in losing to your instructors, be it in training sessions, or combat trials. As long as you are willing to put out the effort to learn and excel, your instructors will be willing to put time and effort into teaching you what they know.

You will NOT be allowed to enter into live combat until you pass this course.

H.E.L.L. Trials will only be conducted on Wednesdays and Saturdays after the training excercises.

SLDF Indoctrination

After your initial H.E.L.L. Trial, you will undergo an extensive indoctrination program designed to teach you not only effective combat and teamwork skills, but also the proper procedures required for the NBT3068 league.

Many other NBT units do not properly instruct their warriors on what is legal and what is not.  As a result, a lot of problems occur that otherwise could have been easily avoided.  This slows down the league and takes the fun out of playing.

A minimum of 2 weeks must be spent going through the training process before a recruit is allowed to petition to take their combat status trial.

Phase 1

Phase 1 will take you through the process of battle conditions against very competent opponents. You will be fighting front line warriors who will rip your mech to pieces if you give them the chance. You have trained diligently and hard up to this point and you are eager to prove yourself and use what you have learned.  If you are not successful, do not fret. It takes practice and patience to master many of the techniques that are being taught to you. Skill can be quickly honed to a razor's edge, but experience is a warrior's "bag of tricks."  Your opponents in the trial will be known to you only as =SLDF=Instructor 1, =SLDF=Instructor 2, etc.  The mission will be a Free For All chosen by the instructors.

You will face 3 SLDF instructors one at a time.

You are allowed to take a mech up to 70 tons in weight. It can be Clan or IS tech.

You can optionally take a mech above 70 tons, IS or Clan tech, but doing so will enable BOTH Class 1 opponents to engage you at the same time.

The mech will be armed only with Class 1 weaponry, but may contain AMS and ammo following NBT3068 rules. For all purposes, it will be a combat ready BattleMech.  Please note, flamers are being disallowed both for recruits and for instructors.

Your instructors will take mechs no lighter then 70 tons and will be Clan tech only.

You will be allowed 2 regenerations in which to complete the combat trial.

Your first opponent will be in an NBT3068 legal missile boat.  No regeneration will be allowed.  If you die without killing this opponent, you fail the trial.

Your second opponent will be in a class 1 NBT3068 legal mech.  You are allowed to use 1 regeneration against this opponent.  If you die, you will face the 3rd unharmed opponent on your last regeneration.

Your third opponent will be in a class 1 NBT3068 legal mech.

You will face each, one at a time in succession.

You will not be allowed to regenerate until you have been destroyed.

You must destroy at least 2 mechs to successfully graduate to phase 2 of the Combat Course.

Phase 2

Phase 2 will take you through the process of battle conditions while working as a team.   Again, your opponents will only be listed as =SLDF=Instructor 1 and =SLDF=Instructor 2.  The mission used will be a team mission and will be chosen by the instructors.

You will face 2 SLDF instructors both at the same time.

You and a fellow graduate from Phase 1 will undergo the trial as wingmates.

You are both allowed to take a mech up to 70 tons in weight. They can be Clan or IS tech.

The mechs will be armed only with Class 1 weaponry, but may contain AMS and ammo following NBT3068 rules. For all purpsoes, these will be a combat ready BattleMechs.  Please note, flamers are being disallowed both for recruits and for instructors.

Your instructors will take mechs no lighter then 70 tons and will be Clan tech only.

You will each be allowed 1 regeneration in which to complete the combat trial.

Your first opponent will be in an NBT3068 legal missile boat.

Your second opponent will be in a class 1 NBT3068 legal mech.

Your team must destroy both opponent mechs to successfully graduate and be placed upon the active duty roster. If you wish, you can inform General Pelennor that you and your wingmate from the trial be listed as a team and assigned to a strike group.

Refresher Course for Returning Pilots

Ahh, the dreaded real life syndrome. Many of us know it all too well. Many things happen that due to their importance we have to forget about Mercs for awhile and deal with reality. When we return, we're often quite rusty and need to get back into the swing of things.

This course has been designed for that purpose. You'll fight usually in 1 on 1 engagements and 2 on 2 team engagements to get your skills back into shape. Just show up on Saturdays or Wednesdays, or make an appointment with an SLDF friend who has a compatible schedule with yours and do some serious practicing for an hour or two.  This doesn't reflect negatively on you in any way. Instead this is simply a way to ensure that there are people about to help ya shake that rust off your mech. :)

You will still be allowed to participate in SLDF battles within NBT, but at a slower pace then the front line warriors. In the past, losing mechs wasn't such a big deal. With the new rules for the restart, logistics was added not only to keep the total # of attack mechs down, but to make replacing them quite costly. We cannot afford to lose mechs without positive results.

Instructors

Any front line warrior qualifies for trainer and instructor duties provided they have sound judgement and patience.
