In Goldeneye you are Bond, James Bond. You have been assigned by M16 to operations having to do with the Goldeneye missle lauched by the shadowy Janus Syndicate.
This is one of the best games. In it, you must complete certain objectives to complete spy missions. There are 18 missions (plus 2 bonus) spread out over 3 difficulty levels (Agent, Secret Agent, and 00 Agent). The missions are set in many various locations around the world.
There are various weapons you must use stategically. For example, the PP7 Special Issue is the perfect gun for covert operations while the KF7 Soviet is a loud but powerful gun that will attract special attention. Automatic weapons are better than thier normal counterparts, damagewise, because they fire faster, but aren't nearly as accurate. A couple of other issues are reload and recoil.
There are also various cheat codes that you may obtain by completing certain missions in a given amount of time in certain difficulty levels. The better the cheat, the harder it is to get it.
The multiplayer is great too. It is for 1-4 players and there are 11 multiplayer levels (some of which you must earn). You can choose the level, characters, game scenerio for winning, teams, health attributes, game control, and weapon types. It works really well and is a fun thing to do with friends.
