My Core Beliefs
I believe:
That God created the Universe.
That God is responsible for the
existence of all life
That creation stories are just that,
stories.
in evolution as a tool for creation and
diversification.
In science as a tool for exploring the
rules and limitations God set forth in the Universe.
Over time all things
degrade/decay/corrupt
That all non-human life is of equal
importance and value
that children are born pure and
innocent, and their lives are more valuable than anything or anyone
else
that adults have to prove their worth,
and that any adult who makes no contribution towards the betterment
of the world and society is of no worth.
That Jesus of Nazareth, (son of Mary,
wife of Joseph from the line of David) was an Avatar (incarnation or
physical manifestation of a Deity) for the “one true god”,
and this was not the first Avatar for God and may not have been the
last.
That on our own we can never truly
understand God.
Detailed
Beliefs
It is my belief
that God created the universe and all things in it, including all
that is living and not living. When God did this, It set forth
certain guidelines and limitations to define the existence of the
universe. All creation resides within God and the power of God
exists in all that God created. God set forth existence and guided
the evolution of life within the universe to create Humanity in its
own image. Since Humanity is created in the image of God, and the
power of God exists in all that God has created, it is possible for
Man to wield the power of Creation, and even thru guided evolution to
become like God.
Over the ages in
the history of man, God has chosen many prophets and used countless
Avatars to try to guide humanity. Basically, every positive Deity is
just another aspect of God. I accept the possibility that there are
other gods that have tried to steer us away from “the one true
God”. I feel that the religions of the world need to let each
other alone because in some way or another they are all right. All
of Gods creations are of equal value and importance, except for
humanity. The importance of a Human life is measured by its
contribution to existence. Those that take without giving are a
waste of life. Those that give enough to account for what they take
are worthy. And Those who give all they can and take only what they
need are exceptional, for this is the way God wants us to live.
The children of humanity are innocent and pure, they should not be
spoiled, or overly disciplined, their lives have the potential to
exceed ours, they are the future of God's people and should be
protected at any cost. Parents should be responsible for their
children, it is not the governments job to raise and educate them.
It is Mans
responsibility to support the World and the other life God has
created on it, just as it supports us. For every life a person takes
to account for its own survival, another of the same type must be
given life as replacement. Plant for Plant, livestock for livestock,
for no one is more important the the other, yet they are not equal.
I believe that
everything has a soul, that all life is important until it proves
itself not to be, only man has the ability to do that.
I believe
that the only sin that exists is refusing salvation, for sin is the
defiance of God's will and this is the only way one can do so.
Where it comes
from
My beliefs come
from a combination of Christian, Norse, Egyptian, Islamic, Native
American, Druidic, and Hindu beliefs.
Below are a listing of what
I have taken from the above listed religions.
Christianity:
The belief that God exists in 3 representations:
1. God the
Father, Creator of the Universe.
2. God the Son, Jesus Christ, the
Redeemer of Sins.
3. God the Holy Spirit, Sustainer of the belief,
That descended on the apostles granting them the gift of tongues.
Islam: The
belief that God's rule is absolute. To quote a passage from an
English translation of the Qur'an (I have to specify this because
according to Islamic belief, the Qur'an translated into any language
other than Arabic is no longer the Qur'an. In my opinion this is
just a control mechanism much like the old catholic church and
insisting that the Bible only be printed in Latin.) “Nothing
can exist outside of the will of God.”
This combined with a
definition of sin that states that sin is the direct wilful defiance
of God's Will, leads me to believe that from a spiritual standpoint
you cannot defy the will of God for everything that exists is so
because that is how God wills it to be. Thru free will the only way
to defy God is to refuse salvation, and choose not to go to “heaven”
upon death.
Norse: a
polytheistic people who believed in the glory of honorable combat. I
believe many of the positive Deities depicted in Norse religious
structure to be representation of “the one true God.”
Mostly I like the way the Norse disposed of their dead, either by
burial at sea or more commonly by funeral pyre where the person was
burned along with all of their most personal possessions.
Egyptian: In my
studies, I have noticed some striking similarities between that of
Horus, and the Christian God.
Hindu: The
existence of Avatars, reincarnation.
I believe in reincarnation,
that our souls migrate between higher and lower forms of life with
Human being near the top and that anyone who lives a good life, upon
death will be offered Salvation, the chance to ascend to a way of
life higher than Humanity, commonly known as heaven. This means that
from a literal sense, there is no hell, those that would “go to
hell” are simply downgraded to a lower form of
existence.
Avatars, physical manifestations of God, Avatars are
born like normal creatures, and can die. The serve as a vessel so
that the divine can exist on the same plane as the mundane.
Native American:
This is true of many tribal cultures, but they believe that you don't
own the land, but that you are meant to serve it. If you serve the
land it will serve you in return. The belief that everything has a
spirit, a touch of the great spirit (God), and that upon death all
spirits return to the Great Spirit before returning to the earth
again. This is also similar to “Gaia Theory” and in many
ways reincarnation. There are a lot of similarities here with the
Druids as well. I am still studying shamanistic ritual but it goes
slow as it is Illegal for me to use many of the Hallucinogens needed
for those rituals.
Druid: The key
thing to remember about the Druids is that they themselves were not a
culture but a class or sect. The Druids were a type of priest. A
priest of nature. Druids believed themselves to be the keepers of
the balance, and most if not all of their rituals revolve around
that. Leaders of tribes and many land owners turned to the Druids
for advice on many aspects and for protection from the elements in
what ever they would do. Druid practices are important to me because
it is as much a lifestyle as it is a spiritual/religion path. Druids
are as much dealers of death as they are keepers of life. Druids
assisted the natural life cycle by felling diseased trees burning
overgrown forests, slaughtering sickly animals, etc. My study of
Druidism is being slowed by my state government as much like
shamanistic rites, Druidic rites also use hallucinogens to modify
consciousness to better understand the nonhuman realm, and every time
I find a safe hallucinogen a bill is passed into law making it
Illegal, or it turns out to have been. The key difference between
Druid and Shamanistic hallucinogen use is most shamanistic rites
require a specific drug where as Druid rites allow for any naturally
occurring substance to be used.
