This is my tactics page. It will display a variety of ACM and tips on getting that kill or that desperately needed escape. The five most important things you need to stay alive are:
- Speed
- Altitude
- Knowledge
- Timing
- Precision
Why do I need speed you ask? The person who has a higher speed has control of the dogfight. Example: Your opponent has is moving slower than you are, if he gets on your 6 than you can easily outrun him. You can use your speed to attack as well. Example: You spot a bogey dead ahead. You can easily catch up and put yourself on his 6, an easy kill!
The more altitude you have, the faster you can go by diving on to your pray. Also, it provides a stealth-like quality. You show up on radar but you're so high up that they won't get a visual on your aircraft.
What I mean by knowledge is knowing the advantages and disadvantages of your plane compared to your opponents. You have to be able to use your advantages to exploit his disadvantages. Go to The Twisted page for info on each aircraft.
You have to be able to time your attacks so that you catch your opponent off guard or in a defenseless position. Only by doing so will you be successful. Also your evasive maneuvers must be performed at the right instant to avoid getting your ass blown off.
Your shots must be accurate to conserve ammo and take down your targets quickly and effectively.
If all else fails, USE the radio. Radio-ing for help can be the most effective thing you can do. It's great for 2 reasons; 1)The enemy aircraft won't know about the incoming contrymen. 2) When they arrive the enema's might get distracted enough for you to get away. There can be a down side, DEATH by typing!. If you get too wraped up in sending your message you're easy pickin's for NME aircraft. Which is why you should fly with a wingman so you atleast have backup in the same sector at all times.
The preceding was brought to my attention by Starhawk. Thanks!
